I took some pics today of my two Swedish Flower Hen breeding pairs. They are all 10 weeks old. Here they are!

Sad, sad day. Woke up to my new favorite chick, eM, having passed away - it was the 'extra' chick that I think was a Silver Spangled Hamburg. So upsetting... I know I shouldn't fall in love with chickies until they have at least made it past a month or two, but I can't help it!!! I fell in love! And it is so hard to stay aloof

So, a little poem for eM (and all the other little chickies who don't make it):

Little fluff, little fluff
Oh, how I miss your stuff
Eye bright, legs nimble
How you made my heart tremble

Sadly, bad things continued; came back home after popping out to the store to find one of my salmon favs killed (probably that stupid hawk - karma for just talking about it). I found five of my girls scattered and got them back in the coop, but one is still missing (Delphine). Very sad day, indeed

Oh, and I never even thought of a Hamburg before, but now, because of eM, I would really like one. I know it is probably farfetched, but if anyone has any Silver Spangled Hamburgs hatching......

I have no words that will do justice. I am so sorry for your loss. We all have had those chickens where we swore we were not going to get attached, and the next thing you know we're shedding tears because something happened and we were so attached. They do that to you without even trying! I have had my share of predator problems too, so I do understand - NOT that it makes it any easier. We are all here for you!!

I really enjoyed your poem...it was very sweet!!

hey im in monroe!!! if u ever need anything or want some silkies or seremas let me know!!!!

moomoo, don't know if you remember us from this fall. my daughter and i traded a white silkie roo(Liam) for a white silkie hen, cotton i think her name was. She is doing great and went broody for a couple of weeks but is now out and about the yard with the rest of the girls. Hope Liam(roo we traded) is doing good.

Got 11 eggs yesterday, seems the Silkies have gone on strike, but the others have upped production. Also 2 SFH eggs laid, just need to get the 3rd hen laying now....

My silkies have gone on strike also. The rest of my girls are still laying though. Can't complain, they have been laying everyday till about weeks ago. They'll get back to laying eventually so i'm not too worried.

I get my six Easter eggers Thursday evening after work. I'm off on Friday so will have the whole weekend to get to know them

I think you'll love the colors that you get from your EE's. I bought 4 Ameracauna's last year from Southern States in Statesville and they lay blue and blue/greenish eggs. When people see the eggs they ask if i have died them. Love them and their personalities.

there was talk of me selling one of my americaunas because she was so sporatic laying...well she must of heard me talking because she has laid 3 the last three days..nice green ones
