She is a Nigerian Dwarf. I have a few for sale but she is currently be loaned out LOL. She is less than 2' tall!
I'll talk to the DH about it and let you know!! I know he's been reluctant to try goats as he wants a cow for milk and is a wuss when it comes to trying "new" things. I guess the biggest question would be where to keep her and whether or not miss prissy (ahem...DD1) would be afraid of her and not go outside!! LOL

When do you need an answer by??
BTW, you'd have been proud of him...he processed 2 chickens all by himself this weekend - NO help from me!!

No chicken news here...we're getting a steady influx of 4-5 eggs a day now

and just waiting on those ducks to either tell me where they are hiding their eggs or to actually start laying. They spend ALL day either on the deck or on the roof of the run, so I'm not sure where they are sneaking off to lay if they are... BOO!! LOL...sneaky girls!! I think maybe next year or this summer even, we'll be looking to add a few EE layers to the mix. I always get excited to see the LONE green egg I get - the rest are brown. Now to find the avocado green egg layer (RF & Beth - you make one yet?? LOL), a PINK egg layer and oh why not...let's just do the rainbow...anyone figure out how to get orange and purple yet??

Have a great day everyone!!

Good morning all! Hope that everyone has a great day.

I have a question... I have some chicks between the ages of 4-6wks they are about 85-90% feathered out. Do you think I can throw them outside now or should I wait a little longer? Normally this time of year I wouldn't hesitate to put them outside, but then again it's usually warmer than it is now. Any suggestion??

Thanks in advance for the advice.

If DD 1 is afraid of a tiny little goat...what will happen with a HUGE cow ??

Even the smallest "mini" cow is huge !!!

AND ..P.S. You HAVE EEs. The ones you got from me are EEs, Silver Laced Wyandottes, Barred Rocks. Next time I will put name tags on them.

I still have mine in... ONLY because of the weather . Unless they have a heat source. I am not a big fan of unsupervised heat !!!

So.... my eggs in the bator went into lock down Sunday night for a hatch on the 27th. We didn't candle any and when I woke up this morning I thought I heard chirping......I got up and there was 2 all the way out, and about 15 more pips throughout. How long do I leave the hatched ones in there???? This is my first hatch in an incubator HELP?!?

They are fine. Chicks can live off their egg sac 3 days. If the rest are already pipped..they should all be hatched by tomorrow. Then take them out.

Welcome to all the new folks! You found the best group in the best forum!

NH, I second what Beth said. If she's afraid of a goat less than two feet tall, what is a cow going to do to her!? Hmmmm...You should come visit and let her see my calves. They're only about 300-400 pounds at three months, so still small. Of course, I have big dogs, and if I recall you aren't a dog fan, so that might not be a good idea.

If I were you, I'd try to talk hubby into trying a goat out while you've got an offer. Goats eat faaaarrrrrrr less than a cow! Of course, both can put some food away, and for a milking animal you'll go through a lot of grain, but goats will eat far less. And of course, they are easier to handle, too.

My unsolicited 2 cents!

Oh! Luka...congrats on the hatch! Welcome to a new addiction!
