As I was brushing my teeth this morning, I heard a really loud peeping and ran to the back porch to see what was happening with the baby keets I have out there. Nothing was wrong....?? So, I go back into the bathroom to continue brushing my teeth and hear it again. Repeated above and nothing wrong....??

Finally had the thought that maybe the keets due on Wednesday were hatching early? I had just locked them down yesterday so doubted it.... Sure enough, there was one out and when I looked in it peeped loudly again. By the time I left, there were 3 out. LOL. I think I have 22 eggs in there so I may have several more by the time I get home!

These are about 2 weeks behind the 9 I have on the back porch. I'm hoping to have at least 15 more to add to the flock this summer.

I know there are at least 2 more nests out in the edges but we just have not located them yet. I hope all this rain doesn't hurt them before we can find them.....

Is anyone else hatching out guinea keets?

I got 11 more chickens yesterday ..... Wow..... But it's ok because I sold 7 more and 2 of them were roosters that I really needed to get rid of and I have somebody else coming to get 2 more this weekend

Anyone know where I can get a Rhode Island Red pullet chick? (not a production red).
Hatcheries make you order a ridiculous amount and all the ones I'm seeing on craigslist are older or a production cross (sex link, production red, etc.)
My husband is going to be super upset when he finally gets home and realizes his chickens are gone...

That had been original plan but do not have an incubator and have no idea what I am doing. Went to SS this morning and they had some Easter egger chicks, red sex link, and barred rock. I got a mix and so I now got 15 new chicks. Maybe I can hatch my own someday but right now juat happy to have some more chixks. I am hoping my two boys can get along for another couple weeks then we will figure out what to do. Just hope none of these are boys..... hoping.

Right now all my hens are new to laying and I am only getting an egg a day out of 9 hens. So now turning them out yet....


Ramirez. to answer your ? I have 9 hens and two roosters and two cornish cross that are living out their days....
