Hi there! Just posted this new member introduction but wanted to meet all my NC neighbors!

I love BYC! I have learned so much from this website and feel a little like a stalker for silently reading all of your posts for the past few months! I am so excited to get some chickens and love that I have a place to go for all of the help and input I know I'll need along the way!

So we live in Apex, NC just outside the city limits of Cary on 2 acres in a suburban neighborhood. Luckily our neighborhood is very laid back and I hope will be chicken friendly, but just a small flock of girls is our plan. Almost an acre is yard and the other is wooded. The plan for our coop is to be right on the edge of the woods in the backyard where there should be some sun but mostly shade. Unfortunately, we do have lots of predators back there. Barred owls, hawks, a family of raccoons that we can watch from our kitchen, and the occassional fox and oppossum. So we are planning to work very had at predator-proofing both the run and coop. I'd love suggestions for the best material to cover the run. I saw a clear plastic roofing on one of your coop pages and thought that looked very interesting - lets the sun in but keeps everything else out. Any feedback on that idea?

As soon as I hit my 10 required posts I will upload pics of the coop and planned location in the yard for more feedback. 3 down, 7 to go I guess!!!
