Quick update on Baby:

When I cleaned her right eye this morning, the scab over it came off. There were no maggots (thank GOD!), no pus, and unfortunately no eye either. Her left eye is looking better, a bit weepy, but otherwise not too bad. She hates being separated from the rest of the flock, and puts up quite a fuss, but she's getting better about being handled. Thanks for all the tips! I'll have to get another pic of her in the next few days, when she's looking better.

Another cool day in the 60s love it! Very Thankful for this great weather! Gonna make the most of it and get some projects done, that I've been putting off because of the heat/humidity.
my chickens are loving the cool weather, and the swarm of grasshoppers that seem to have appeared over night  neighbors mowed down 12 acres of high grass and the grasshoppers must have hopped up here, I filled 3 Quart jars full. I'm gonna see if I can dry/freeze them like mealworms and use them as treats. :fl

hope everyone has an Awesome Day!

I have a question, I have a 24 week old LB who has laid a few eggs. I've noticed that they're HUGE. This morning she laid another very large egg, now she seems off. Normally she's a chatter box, but nothing. She's sitting in the run with her back end way up, or she'll stand and close her eyes almost asleep. She is walking but very slowly. What could be the problem?

Ramirezframing, I'm really interested in silkies, Sussex, and polish. I live in a neighborhood that allows chickens but not roosters. I had to drive 2 hours to get the 7 I have now and I'm concerned that if I gamble on a straight run I'll end up with a roo & I won't have an outlet for him. My mom has a breeder in her area that "says" he has a roo return policy, but I have heard he is not upholding that anymore. Ugh! This is definitely an addiction now...but I don't want to hurt my girls. Off to research quarantine :)

There are plenty of people over your neck of the woods with nice healthy chicks for sale. There are flock swaps etc...

Good morning everyone. I'm up way too early after only 4 hours of sleep, but o well. Thought since I have the time I'd share some pictures :D
