new flocker

Cute, Thanks!

I just can't bring myself to...ya know. It's horrible! He just looks at me and loves me so much. He's become like my best friend.

sad I know. I have no life. He talks to me and he walks around the yard with me. It's no good. I cry just thinking about it. I don't see anything blocking in there but he won't let me get the best look. Poor rooster.

after these chickens "go" I will never get anymore. Too much heartache when they "leave"
With my boy...he was the old guy on the farm, and pretty much a pet, so we took him to the vet. Same day we butchered a lot of excess roos, we took Bigfoot to the vet. People laughed at us, but the difference was there. He was family. If you have any vet near you comfortable with birds, you might want to try. An avian vet would be best, but they are few and far between.

Welcome to the new folks!

I've got Golden Cuckoo Marans and quail hatching today. And my new Hovabator arrived this morning. I needed another for a hatcher, as I don't like hatching in the cabinet. That's where the quail are hatching, so I'll need to scrub everything down again. Easier to separate incubating and hatching. The new brooder that hubby built is awesome! After he gets a short break, I'll ask for another....or two.

Heading home after a looooonnng day at work. At least tomorrow I'm just giving exams and don't have to think!

There's one here in sanford I think called ALL ANIMALS we took my mothers parrot to might try there

Peafowl are loud...Turkey are loud...ducks are loud, except Muscovy (IMO the friendliest ducks I ever had) ...Geese are loud...roosters are loud. Birds in general are loud.

I managed to get him to drink some water with probiotics in. He seems happier when he's with me than alone outside. He's still got some fight in him because he does not want me to look down his throat. At all! No avian vets around. There's nc state university but I have called before but they talked like it required a lot and a lot of money. There's a place in Cary but they are outrageous!

State is expensive. Did you ask about setting the appointment up through the veterinary school? My friend got a break on the bill for her cat by agreeing to let students learn from the case.

Also, as was already stated All Animals in Sanford is a wonderful facility although I am not sure that they deal with birds. Conversely, you can check out rural vets or maybe try asking an equine vet if they can refer you to anyone.

I did a quick google search of "avian vets in nc" and there are a few.
