Passing on adorable ness

Adorable................

Please be aware that Cedar shaving are not very good for birds. They cause respiratory issues. Better choice is pine.

Just making myself known here! From Raleigh and enjoy raising my backyard chickens. Is there much of a worry in Raleigh for cold weather? Or is it not going to get cold enough to be a worry?

Welcome! I'm in the Durham area :) There's a really great chicken store in the Brier Creek vicinity called The Urban Chicken...great resource for someone new to the area :)

Last winter was pretty cold, for us, and the main concern was frostbite on combs.

We had some left over from something so I figured I'd use um' up.

With duckies, you'll use them up so fast they won't have a chance to cause problems, plus you have excellent airflow with the kennel they are in. I personally am not worried. :) I have used cedar shavings in my chicken run with no issues!

Supposed to hit freezing tonight. Time to remove all my automatic waterers and replace them with open water pans. I much prefer the auto waterers! Oh, well. It'll be nice in the spring when I put them back on!

My wonderful Reilly, one of our mastiffs, is currently living on pain meds. We won't have him much longer. Give a hug and a treat to all your pets.
So so so sorry to learn this Hollow
