Good evening everyone! Love all the pics!!!

HT, the new color you've got there is gorgeous!!!

My hatch is all finished - 5 out of 7. One I was pretty positive quit about a week back but put it in just in case since I'm a newbie and all, but it didn't hatch. And then the little one that pipped a blood vessel didn't make it. That was heart-breaking! It was so close - about half of the way zipped! I don't know if there was something I could've done???

But I have 5 adorable babies - 4 blue (possibly 1 black) Ameraucanas and 1 sneaky little EE that has a 50% chance of being frizzled! The seller had a little woopsie, but that's fine by me! The more variety the better! They are all cuties. HOWEVER, 1 of them is MEAN!!!!!! Really mean! And loud, too!!! Tormenting the daylights out of the others! I did seperate it for a while at first because it wouldn't let the new ones sleep for a second straight from hatching. Just pecking relentlessly - going for the eyes and pulling out down like crazy! Have any of you had a real meanie, bully of a chick????

Have a good night!!

Thanks suburbanchickymama I am very excited about this chick, to top it off I would have never hatched it but my DD said it was out a pen I knew it couldn't be so I hatched it just to make sure. Now I'm glad I did!

OLF & HT.... love the pics

HT Are you going to have any Lav/Splits/BBS eggs available anytime soon ? I will PM you. Wish I did not live so far away.

SCM.. sorry for your losses. I know it sucks, but sometimes that is just the way of nature. I bought Wheaten Ameracana eggs (shipped) hatched 5/15, only 7 made it to lockdown. Already 2 died, they were so weak. Left with 3. So many were clear or real early quitters. I am really dissapointed. SWondering what I did or could have done. I do know that another BYCer is hatching same egg from same seller and has 5/14 in lockdown, makes me realize it wasn't anything I did. Rough shipping or just not hardy eggs/birds.

Chickeninthemeadow sorry to hear you lost the lillte SS. And glad to hear everyone else is doing fine.

Mine girls have been slacking in the egg department or so I tthought, found another hidden nest with 13 eggs. Little brats! I may keep them locked up untill I get all my eggs. They are so happy when they are out, but I need my eggs.

or I need to stalk them and watch where they go.

HT - what a beautiful little one!! I am keeping my fingers crossed
fl.gif
that when you and Gavin come back from the UK you will have some to share at the exact time one of mine goes broody!!

OLF - My you have some beautiful ones!! I don't know breeds very well (okay, at all really)...but I think the new mama with the one that she hatched is my favorite. I just adore her coloring and "fluffiness". I am all about the fluffy ones!! That must be why I have orps and I am dying to get some cochins!!

I am so sorry for your loss. I can't imaging how hard it must be to watch them progress so far and just quit or not make it.
hugs.gif
I think you are doing great for a "first timer"!!

I love the fact that your girls are hiding the eggs from you!! Perhaps one of them is going to go broody??

Today is my big day...I am going to be working outside on the coop...ALONE!! My goal today is to get the hardware cloth up over the windows so I can open them up and get some nice airflow in there and
fl.gif
get the holes dug for the posts. We plan on getting the run finished Friday - if all goes well and that way Saturday after our Cantata practice and my DH's birthday lunch we can work on getting the second set of doors up and start working on the interior walls. Question: My 2 LO are very skiddish is there anything I can do to try and get them to warm up to me? They won't take treats from me, and if I get too close the female puffs herself up and starts flapping her wings and runs away, which in turn agitates the whole flock. This is the same girl who will bury herself under all the others. I was afraid they were trampling her, but she actually crawls underneath them all at night. Is she just the "low woman" in the pecking order, or is she just really afraid? I don't want her living in fear of me...how horrible would that be. The rest of the flock has warmed up to me, and they all come up waiting for their treat (I put a few oats in a bag and shake it each time I come in while talking to them...

I'm infected with this disease, I know). The BO roo is still the one that seeks me out and "follows" me as he can. I am hoping to give them some more leg room this weekend, but any suggestions? Thanks everyone. Oh, and if anyone is BORED...you are welcome to come over and help dig posts...

I have POPSICLES!! Haha.. I had to try!!

Hmmm, HT - and idea on the sex of those cochins?? I was hoping for the LF but the bantams sure are cute!!! Maybe Bhep and I can figure out a way to both get some goodies our way! Whereabouts are ya?

NH - good luck with those holes! Not a fun job.

Is 10 days too young for a field trip outside? It is so pretty out I was thinking about getting their playpen set up!

Back to the ortho for my sweetheart. Still can't walk on his foot.

This little guy has got to get better!!!

Hope you all have a good day!

Oh my gosh what sweet pictures of babies ya'll have, thats one nice thing about bators you can get up close and personal with the chicks when ,mama has them not so easy. I still have 5 girls sitting, think they are due this weekend. Got my days turned around so not sure anymore, can't even trust my own writing on the calender. Has anyone heard if G&A broody hatch out her last 3?

The one little blue I think is a boy??? but the other I am not sure of yet. I have 7 so I am starting to narrow them down and I am not going to be working with blue so they are the first to go. I have a couple more that I will let go soon, just waiting for them to feather in some more so I can get an idea of their coloring but they are in the black range somewhere. Oh and did I mention I have 12 lavender bantam cochin eggs cookin in the bator.

You are only 2 hours and 44 minutes from me, I think that's worth a day trip.
