Big Sis has 5 chicks and 3 more pipped eggs. Only had 12 of these eggs to begin with.

Maggie has 3 chicks and 2 pipped egg. The big cochins are a bit slow.

8 more eggs in the bator. Waiting to see what happens. I think I hear something.

Anyways, my tri colors are mine. No one else has them, well not exactly. They are a mix breed. I got the original eggs from my uncle's flock of whatevers 7 years ago before that flock was wiped out. From those eggs I got Dot(tri colored Roo) and Oreo(Black and White hen). From Oreo and Dot I got Lil Oreo(B&W) and Snickers(my avatar-tricolored). 5 years ago Caramel was hatched from Snicks. Lost Oreo before the egg that produced Lil Oreo was set. If her mom hadn't gotten killed I wouldn't have set that found egg. Lost my baby Snickers to an impacted crop 3 years ago. Lil Oreo is still here, but has a heart problem. 4 years ago Baby Oreo, Peanut, and Nougat were hatched. Noug is from Snicks, Peanut from Caramel, and Baby Oreo is from Lil Oreo. Almost lost Caramel 2 years ago to a hawk. Took 2 months to get her well. She lost an eye and has some minor brain damage from where the hawk tried to pierce her skull for the kill. You don't notice anything different with her, but she gets tired quickly and gets overstressed. She heads for the coop to rest when that happens. Half hour or so and she is back out with the rest.

Lost my precious Dot this past year to the neighbor's cat. I was heartbroken and beyond ticked. After a couple days I went on the hunt for one of Dot's sons that I had given to new homes. All were gone expect 1. Andy was hatched here in 2009 and went to live in SC a few months later with Karen(Jetiki). Karen generously offered him back to me. Andy now has a new Oreo daughter from Baby Oreo that is a month old. All the chicks from Caramel, Noug, and Peanut that hatched today are tri-colored.

The Tricoloreds breed true, but the gene pool is from a single pair(Dot and Oreo). They are a large size bantam. Cocks run about 3 lbs and hens about 2.5, but get fat with age. Dot was almost 3.5 lbs when he was taken from me. They are tight feathered with light featherig down the outside of the legs. All have Solid bodies and so far have very calm temperments. The girls are broody, in fact Caramel and Nougat are broody now. They are very good layers of small white to cream eggs.

Sorry to go on so long, but I get long winded about my birds.

Had a scare when I got home from work last night. My BLWR's were all out and the Roo had a bloody leg. Looked in the pen and saw that the shared fence with the horses was ripped up and a halter laying on the ground. I foster horses and the one I have now has catching issues and I leave a halter on him( but one that can break off if needed) He also cribs and like to use one of the posts back there to do it. He must have had his head down looking at the chickens and caught the snap on the fence. The whole flock took advantage of the big hole and went on walk about. How the roo tore his leg up I don't know. Had to grab DH and supplies to clean the leg. Caught the roo and finally got a look, Just tore off his spur on that leg, didn't even have to bandage. dodged a bullet on that one. I don't have a replacement grow up yet for him.

that is more then enough excitement for me thank you and my first injury.

Love the pigeons. I almost bought a pair that exact color from a lady in Carthage. I have gotten several chickens from her which are great. The last time I went out there she wanted to sell her pair of Lahores. Boy it was hard to leave without them I could not stop watching them. I just did not know to much about their care and have to keep thinks somewhat simple for my pet sitter when i go to my camp trailer. The only place I would have had to put them is with my chickens. I guess I will have to enjoy stories and pictures of yours.

2 packed cups of the flower heads and steep them (in cheese cloth) like tea in hot water, let cool and set in fridge over night. (About 4 cups of water cover them well). Then after you have got the flowers out of the 'tea'. Use 2 cups of the flower tea, 1 Tbsp lemon juice, and 1 packet of liquid pectin and bring to a boil. Then add 4 cups of sugar, another boil for 1 minute and ladle into sterilized jars. Lid and water bath for 10 minutes. This works with ANY flower you want to make into jelly... rose petals (minus the bitter white part of the petal), violets, dandelions, honeysuckle, lavender, ect.
