Hope everyone had a great weekend!! We managed to get some little things done on the coop....DH is still working on cutting out the trim, so no trim...for now! We did put up boards to keep the "litter" in the coop as well as put locks and latches on all the doors...now no escapees!! We have 2 orb weavers making nice homes on each side of the barn...I sure wish they'd EAT that black widow...she's still here...still spots my DH and runs/hides. Smart little nasty bugger!! Night everyone!!

NH... feathered legs is normal for Marans. If you look at the others they have feathers on their legs too, maybe just peachfuzz

And I went to the auction today and came home with another dozen eggs

There are two types of Marans - English (clean legged) and French (feather legged) most are trying to breed to French standard and to my understanding they have to be French in order to show as well. There are still lots of English marans and they make just as nice eggs as the others.

even with the parent marans having feathered shanks the babies may not always come out with the feathered shanks its all in the genes
