I am SO happy you finally got an answer and it isn't life threatening. Now you know what and how to treat, that has got to be a small bit of easing of the mind. Wishing a speedy and easy recovery

Thanks, but sadly there is no treatment... I just need to sleep until its done run its course. They say 3 weeks to 3 months and we're going on 4 weeks. I'm a bit annoyed because I could spread this and I'm contagious for up to 6 weeks and never knew. They ruled it out the first day I went to the dr's office so blows my mind we're back to it.

I can't not work or do my job for 3 months though?!

So I'm going to another dr to have a second option.

I wish it was something that some drugs would just knock out... but it is what it is I guess! Thanks everyone for the thoughts & concern. I needed the extra strength!

Sadly, no. Not one egg. In fact they have been playing with the "fake" eggs that I put in the nesting box. I found 2/3 out in the run today.

I am just baffled. They have oyster shells out if they want, they have abundance of food/water. I guess what ML said may be right afterall...we just have too many roos for the girls to lay...that's all that I can think of. I went inside the barn when it was 100+ outside and it was well ventilated, breezy and only felt 85ish...so I don't think they got too hot.
hu.gif
I just don't know.

I went back and counted and they are only 24 weeks old, so perhaps they are just "slow" to develop. I thought they were at 7 months, but I guess they will lay if and when they feel like it. As for the crushed chilies...I don't have any and there's none at our local grocery store (I know because I made some salsa and was looking for some nice peppers...lol). Thanks for checking up though.

VFem - I am SO glad to hear that you have an answer. Next time (
fl.gif
hoping there's no next time) I say we try the angry mob with a pitch fork routine on day 1.5!!

I have never had mono, but I have heard stories...it's one of those "illnesses" that never truly goes away and can resurface anytime you are under stress compounded with lack of sleep and other factors. It makes no sense why they would rule it out only to factor it back in. I wonder what the lab results showed?!? Well...I am praying for you and if you do seek a second opinion,
fl.gif
we'll have our pitch forks ready for them to speed up the lab work process!!

Don't give up on them, also the heat upsets their laying cycle. Out of 8 hens we got 2 eggs today and 4 from the Silkies, we never get that many from the Silkies!!
