I lost one of my bcm pullets two weeks ago, she evidently took a liking to the doorway that night...*autodoor* sadly no way it happened quick, door is very light. I have spent countless hours beating my self up. That night I let the dogs out, I remember hearing flapping of wings. Sounded just like someone had dropped off the roost and they might have, but I'm pretty sure it was her suffering in the door. I have changed the shavings threshold as to not have another roost on it.

I was just stopping by to catch up, unfortunately I'm still pretty sick, so I'm going back to bed. My mother-in-law is still enjoying herself with the granddaughter & husband though. Glad they've been going out and doing things while I've been laid out. I'm not sure what this is, but its not what I had before. I have a stuffed up head, and my ears keep popping. So some kind of head cold. My immune system isn't back yet from being sick before, so just one person needs to sneeze in my general direction and I'm out for the count.

But I miss you guys! ...and I miss my chickens too. Hubby has been feeding and watering them for me, so I haven't gotten to see if the new girls are laying yet. I'm assuming not since he hasn't brought in anything but Duck eggs the last few days.

(I need my taste buds back before I cook those babies up, LOVE duck egg omlets!)

Thanks everyone....

The eggs were from my hens... sizzles & cochin. There will be a snake hunt this weekend.

CSB..those special eggs were put straight back in the bator and are due to lockdown on Tues the 6th. 18/20 making it.

Also re-candled the "just in case eggs" and got 3 more for sure & 2 maybes (the BCM are hard to see) ... THAT is why I never get rid of an egg before day 15-18.

These are some resilient chicks, not even 21 hours without heat will kill them
