I only thing i kow about guineas is the can go on "walk about" About 5-6 years ago a flock of 18 ran through my place and scared the horses almoast to death. They- the horse- knocked my older mare with a healed fracture over into the water trough in there panic. The guineas came through twice daily for years until they were down to the 3 that come by still to day. Up and down the road for 2 miles everyone knows the guineas and no one knows where they came from. Once the get out they will travel and you won't catch them, I know I tried for weeks until the horses finally got used to them and stopped trying to kill themselves twice a day.
From what I have heard you won't have any ticks in yuour yard if you can keep them around. I haven't had tick trouble in years with them visiting.

Ht congrats on all your wins!

Soaring chicks you are welcome to visit , drop a line if you have time.

vfem good luck on your entries.

green family congrats! I chciks I got from you are doing great. I am sure of one roo- blue wheaten and the other are wheaten and I think 3 may be pullets and unsure on one.

Fresh from the fair!! Well everything but the exact eggs that were entered as they left with an 80 year old gentleman to go to another fair.

The bread also didn't make it thru the week so this is a stand in loaf I made with dinner last night but the same thing.

)

Didn't place this year were the pickles (not sure why??) and dandelion jelly

Not bird related:

I tried a new experiment: Strawberry Cream Squares
545_strawberrybars.jpg

Bottom layer is sugar Cookie. Middle layer is Cream Cheese, Strawberry topping, sugar, and 2 eggs. Bake those together. The Top layer, that has to be refrigerated, is just whipped cream blended well with strawberry topping and a couple drops of red food color to get that nice color.

Turned out really well, but if you eat more then 2 in a day you will drop into a sugar coma. My brother's family was here Sunday and they are always good to experiment on.

Awe yay! Congrats to all your awards too!! I will be very busy next year with ambitions of doing as well as you have. I am so excited about my birds I am getting from you... all I have to say is they are from you and Hunter says oh ok...

On another note...my ducks have been teaching my poor chickens to swim today...we woke up to 3 inches of standing water in the yard...and they all insisted on going out in it...crazy birds.

Hmm, sounds like time for a road trip to Matt's house!!! I can bring my tent and camp out in the yard... But seriously, can you share with us (me!) the proportions for the pink layer? How much cream cheese? Sugar? Etc. That looks like something I'd like to try to make. Thank you!
