anyone
post here a lot from eastern NC? I would like to find some folks to swap some eggs or chicks with.
I am looking for some Delaware eggs, and for a loving home for my EE cockerel Spazz. I have decided that I want more delawares, and less EE's

This is sooo weird....I was asleep; outside security lights came on and woke me....of course I thought a predator was in the yard so I got up to check---nope....but I was awake so I thought I'd check emails....noticed that PC was off??? okay, the power must have flickered.
Came online and was just posting to this thread when the power DID go out....called Duke and they said power would be restored by 6PM Sunday!!! My incubator is full of eggs....the heat lamps in the barns went out....woke my husband and we decided to turn the generator on for the chicken barns and the incubator.

Of course, now I'm wide awake from going outside in the freezing snow....but my chickens are warm again and the bator temp is back to normal.

Let's just hope Duke gets the power on BEFORE 6 PM

We have about 5" of snow in little Washington, and it's still coming down really hard!

My ladies won't even go out in the run, they are staying inside where its a bit warmer.
I have a 75w heat lamp over their water dish so it doesn't freeze, that warms up the coop pretty well

and saves me from changing frozen water.

Good Morning Coffee Cow---I imagine my dad will be calling any minute to tell me about the snow you'll are getting...lol

Good Morning Neighbors~~though I don't see any of you'll on here this AM....strange, Greenskeeper is usually such an early riser. Of course, you'll might be in the same boat that we're in---no power. We still have the generator going, but I'm more than ready for Duke to turn our power back on---I want a hot shower!! Duke is still saying it will be 6PM.
Haven't even seen the county road scrapers out.....it has pretty much stopped snowing. Looks like we got a total of about 8 inches. All the birds are fine, but I think the Silkies miss their heater---it's still quite warm in their barn with just the heat lamps (51 degrees)

Can't keep the wild bird feeders full...lol. If we can get off the mountain today, I need to stock up on wild bird food; I stocked up on everything else for winter, but forgot the wild bird food.

You'll stay warm

....to CoopDePoop and everyone else it's 21 here and Burnsville and snowing like the dickens. We have close to 8" on the ground saying maybe 6 or so more by tonight. My chickens are still inside too CoffeeCow my little bantams would be making tunnels if they came out, poor babies. This is the wet snow which makes for beautiful pictures but also helps to bring down trees, so everyone be warm and be safe. And just keep looking for that first sign of spring, you know it's just around the corner......

Hello "Tarheels" !!!

(That's a LOT of snow for yore "Neck-of-the-Woods" !!! Stay WARM !!! )

Miss Lydia,

The ABSOLUTE "Earliest Sign of SPRING" is when I start sorting through my vegetable Garden Seeds. That could happen at ANY hour of ANY day now. (I am NOT a "Winter-Lover" !!! It's COLD here on the High Desert Mesas of New Mexico.)

Keep your firewood dry !
