Good Morning, Happy People!

Christmas gets closer and closer...and I'm nowhere near ready. I never am anymore. I used to be. I think because Christmas stuff is out in the stores in October these days, I just get so used to seeing it around that now the actual date gets sneaky on me. I don't quite believe it's finally here after seeing it for a quarter of the year.

The heater quit again some time in the night. The part that is needed is backordered by the maker! I'll have to call the repairman to come out and reset it again today. Chris could do it if he were home, but he doesn't gt back until tomorrow. There's no way I could crawl under the house to do it. I'm very glad we aren't fighting heater issues in January or February, but still. We need that part already!

Went and saw Levi, my puppy, yesterday. He's 9 pounds 6 ounces yesterday, and he is four weeks. Can't wait to bring him home!

Good Morning everyone!! I agree with you Hollow - the time just slips by. I am going to be in a MAD dash this week getting all my cookies, candies, and breads baked! I cannot believe I let myself get this far behind! I only made 1 batch of "puppy chow" for my husband which he polished off over a week ago. I have family coming in this weekend to stay for Christmas too, and I am just NOT prepared!! This is NOT like me, I don't know what happened...I am just slacking. Too many books to read during the day to the little ones...yes, I will blame the little ones!! LOL
<sigh> On a weird note...I don't know how/why, but somehow I woke up with a stiff back. It feels like my spine is frozen and my right side is killing me. I have been asked if it's sciatica pain and I can honestly say I have NO clue as I have never had it before, but I always thought that it was lower, not higher. Oh well. I will be moving a LOT slower today, but the baking NEEDS to get done. I look at it as an opportunity to understand what those living with chronic pain must endure - this will help me be a little bit more empathetic (only a little, as I could never fully understand the pain of living like that 24/7).

Chicks are doing well. They are eating like MAD FIENDS!! LOL. A few of them are trying to jump out of the pen and I know my cochin has been "talking" to these girls as she spends a lot of time around them. She's such a good mama!!

Cadbury and his girls are slowly warming up to us! The 4 ladies sit on our deck railing and "wait" for bread scraps (which I just happen to "find" laying around...hehe - no wonder I am making so much bread!! LOL). The new 2 will not eat from our hands, but they will let us put the pieces "near" to them and I don't know if Cadbury is too big or just not interested, but he stays on the ground down below the girls and sleeps. I try to hand feed him too, but it's a pain with all the chickens and (worse) greedy guineas clobbering around. I still thoroughly enjoy watching him wing slap the guineas when they get too close!!

Yeh! a promise of eggs in the spring and said Spring will be here before I know it. Norwegion Jaehorns. I am not ready for Christmas either. I need to start the cookie, pie, and cake baking and then the ham for sure. Then the veg. and casseroles too. Yummy, I love it all but as a diabetic I have to sample very lightly.
This sure seems like a mild fall/coming into winter so far. I hope it stays that way. After my move I still have only three hens out of 12 laying. My EE, ameracuanna and the Deleware. Next wk will be a month and I now have 14 hrs of light on them so I should start getting more soon. If not chicken stew is looking better all the while. My hb just laughs and says you would not dare and says you would about kill anyone who tried to do the deed, as they are my pets

I think Christmas sneaks up on most of us

.... but I love the eating that comes with it

As much as I want another warm winter, we need a cold one to kill off some of these bugs!! I had 10 to 20 spiders crammed into little areas all over the place this year and every single one was FAT!! I probably had close to 60 spiders, never had that many before, and still had bugs everywhere

Hollow I hope you get the heater fixed for good soon

Next batch is due New Years... at Meg's

I have a bunch of Black/ Split Orp (50% English...so these will be pretty big) chicks that need homes.

I hate bugs, fleas, mites, lice and SPIDERS,

They have been bad in the mtns this year too. Well, maybe enough cold weather to get rid of them. That would be fine with me. Gloria Jean

Awesome! How many'd ya get? Hopefully I'll hatch you out a bunch of big lavender pullets!

I've got lots of pretty eggs in the mail right now! Yay!!!! Can't wait for some of these! And some will be for sharing. And some you won't be able to pry away from me.

And.....I just called to check on my jury duty status for tomorrow...canceled! I'm excused for the next two years. Perfect! The heater part came in today, so now he can come fix it tomorrow!

if they're the same ones I have they are already giants and picking on chicks 3 weeks older than them
