Go cuddle a chicken?  Sorry, I can't think of anything helpful, except when I'm stressed the critters are always helpful.  And pregnancy hormones are horribly stressful...drop a hairbrush and cry type hormones.  Ugh!   I never had morning sickness with mine, so I have no helpful cures.  Just hugs.  :hugs

:hugs thank you hollow :hugs

anyone have any good remedies for morning sickness? NH?
Okay pregnancy hormones suck!!
Way back in the olden days when i was pregnant, I lived on saltine crackers most mornings. and Congrats !! and yep crying starts when pregnant and doesn't stop till they are grown and on their own, and sometimes you still cry after that.

I am so sorry you are having such a rough time! Let me say I DO understand...just last week I was watching an anime show with my DH and some stupid commercial came on and out of the blue I was blubbering. The poor, helpless look on DH's face was priceless....but it was/is/always will be VERY irritating! Nothing like trying to make an appointment or get a quote for garden soil and all of a sudden you're choking back tears!!

Sadly, there is nothing that I know of that aides the emotional roller-coaster!! That being said, I have found several things that work WONDERS for me regarding morning (agreed, stupid name) sickness!! Let me preface by saying be keenly aware of your body!! If you are starting to lose weight or get to a point where you can't even hold down liquids PLEASE see your OB immediately! Okay, now I am not a fan of medications/pharmaceuticals, so when I look for things, I tend to ask the grandma's and great-grandmas for their advice! Here are a few things that I have found help me (please know that just because they work for me, does not mean it'll work for you...I WISH that was the case) Ginger & peppermint - both herbs are known for aiding in digestion, settling the stomach as well as helping with nausea. I keep a bottle of Peppermint Essential Oil with me and when I am out and about, I will be seen inhaling it if the nausea wave hits me. It helps enough to get things done and back home! Ginger is wonderful, although NOT to everyone's taste - I have to add a bit of honey in my teas to get ginger down (be sure to watch that you do not exceed 1000 mg of ginger in a day...not sure why, but everything I have come across tells me that, so there must be a reason. hehe). SOUR - how I am a HUGE fan of Granny Smith apples (organic is my preference...no sense giving the baby pesticides...off soapbox and back on track). I do not eat anything processed (except my tortillas but they are sprouted and from the Ezekiel company...so I don't consider them "processed") so I cannot offer suggestions there, but I have heard that sour patch kids (the candy) are great to suck on as well as sour breath mints/etc. I will take a small GS apple, slice it up and "nibble" on it all day long. Knowing I am doing well if I manage to eat the whole thing (and keep it down) in one day!! Also, I know this will sound weird, but before going to bed, eat a small handful of nuts or something high in protein (even an EGG!!

) and then BEFORE you ever lift your head off your pillow in the morning, eat 2 saltine crackers... VERY. SLOWLY. I have also found that if I "snack" throughout the day it is a LOT easier for me to get in some nutrition - just make sure your snacks are good ones! I take a raw pre-natal vitamin (it means that the vitamins and minerals are from raw sources - ie plants/meats and not processed) that is FREE of iron - iron in vitamins or pills can cause you to have an upset stomach, so there's no sense adding to the problem. I get my iron from snacking on leafy veggies or making a salad (using spinach & broccoli as "lettuce") for supper on days I am feeling particularly brave. Avoid like the PLAGUE any and all greasy/oily foods. If you cannot stomach solid foods at all I would suggest drinking bone broth, chicken broth, making a smoothie (if you can handle the thickness) at least you are getting some vital minerals and some calories. STAY HYDRATED - I sip lemon water throughout the day! If you have peppermint or ginger or Red Raspberry leaf, I would make a tea or "ice tea" of that and drink it throughout the day. I make a pot (in my "coffee" pot) of red raspberry leaf tea, wait for it to get cold and drink that as my liquids for the day. Red Raspberry Leaf tea is a known uterine supporter and not only helps with the blood flow in your body but also is known to help strengthen your placenta as well as ease certain symptoms. I credit RRL tea with helping to "cure" my placenta previa that I had with my last pregnancy. They were certain I was going to have to have a c-section and I drank GALLONS of that tea, had the best labor (out of the 2 thus far), best energy, you name it...it was the best pregnancy and she is the happiest baby I have!! Eggs are a WONDERFUL source of great nutrition (as if I need to tell chicken people that) but it's even said to be a "brain booster" for babies!! If nothing else works, please see your doctor as there are medications that can ease the sickness as well as, in rare occasions, the need to have IV fluids. Sorry to write you a mini-book but I was trying to be as thorough as I can!! If you have any other questions/comments/concerns don't hesitate to PM me or ask!! We're all in this together!! Although...some days, I think I'd rather be a chicken and just sit on an egg for 21 days rather than endure the nausea...but once that baby moves for the first time...all else is forgotten and you won't change it for the world!

Thank you soooooo much NH. Eggs and green mango tea are about the only things i have been able to stomach. But i love ginger and peppermint so i'm off to make some tea with that. I hate meds too, so i am gonna try all you suggested before i resort to the OB.
:hugs thank you

And i have to say he is a very large bird!! please let me know if anyone is interested or knows anyone who is interested. I need to get rid of him soon but don't want to kill him..

Somehow I missed this thread until now. Hi everyone. I live in eastern NC Onslow Co. I'm currently raising blue and wheaten Ameraucana and Silkies.

Good morning folks and welcome to all new flockers

First day back wasn't too bad but it also
wasn't a full day as in only one of the
schools went back yesterday......only
had to drive one route out of three that
I do......and most of the kids were subdued.
Makes me wonder if it is the calm before
the storm. It's a new adventure every day

hope your day is a good one

Good Morning, Happy People!

welcome-byc.gif
and to the NC forum, New Folks!

CSB, I'm glad your first day back wasn't bad. Tomorrow is my first day. I'm half looking forward to it, and have wishing I didn't have to go back!

House Chicken is still healing well. I'm thinking of trying her back in with the younger birds this weekend. I'd really rather NOT have a house chicken!

Levi is doing really well. Today, instead of being carried outside, or manuevered outside, he walked down the steps himself to go go out. He's learning quickly. He's also a chewer. He started on the old chair I had put in the kitchen. I removed it. Then he started on my antique dry sink. I sprayed it with Bitter Yuck. He's got hard toys, and now a two foot rawhide bone to chew on, so hopefully that will redirect his attention.

Beth comes to visit today!

She's picking up her used eggs, and getting a visit with Levi. (and the other Boys, musn't neglect them!)

The next batch of eggs are hatching. One was out yesterday. One is out this morning, and at least one pipped. One was a clear, so only five in this batch went to lockdown. These are Buff Orpingtons.

Gotta got to work tomorrow, although I won't have students; just set up. I need to take all Jake's stuff back in, make sure I've got everything I need, and get them to work on my computer...or replace it. Classes start back Monday. A whole new batch of students. I hope this semester is as good as last semester was.

Have an awesome day, everyone...I will!
