Is it true that Pumpkin is a natural de-wormer?
I have heard this too from some knowledgeble sources.
We do give pumpkin to our birds and most love it. I got
lucky enough to get some for free from a nursery/plant
dealer that didn't sell they had for yard decorations. The
birds are still eating pumkins

We bought 24 straight run chicks at the Carolina Chickenstock back in September. This was our first time raising chicks, and it has been fun. They all survived and are now going on four months old. We were sold 14 RIR and 10 Barred Rocks, but two of the Rocks turned out to be black Sexlink pullets. Sexing the RIR's has been obvious, but the Barred Rocks are a little more difficult. A few have started crowing, but no other obvious clues have appeared. I guess I'll wait until the eggs show up. Anyway, out of the 14 RIR's, I have 6 cockrels that I would like to trade for pullets of approximately the same age. We are in the Lincolnton area if anyone is interested. I will be posting pictures later today. These guys have been babied and are fairly docile.
by now the roos should have saddle feathers by the tail, these are long and skinny and tend to be shinny.
the barred rock roos are also a lighter color than the females

I just joined BYC and i live in Jacksonville, NC. I am looking for 3 more hens or pullets if anyone has some for free or sale. I have 3 now and a new hen house 8X8X16 feet and would like 3 more hens, my hens are all different breeds one red one white and one black. They are all pets and get released in the fenced in back yard most of the day. I could pick up hens. You may call me at 910-238-2892 or email me at [email protected]. Thanks, Jim Dalton

Sheesh...I take a break for a day and you all talk up a storm!! LOL. I am happy to report that the US showed only ONE baby!! (DH was convinced because I kept dreaming about twins that we were having twins!!

) We are guestimating (haha...spell checker doesn't like my made up word) that I am between 13 & 15 weeks, we should know better at my next appointment. The best surprise...DH worked super late on Thursday to surprise me!! He took a half a day on Friday (going in late) so he could go to the appointment with me. Just having an extra set of hands was amazing!! I really would NOT have been able to do it by myself, I don't think. The second best part...my oldest kept asking, "Mommy, where's baby?" When we finally got into the US room, she said, "Yay, seeing the baby sleeping in mommy's tummy!"
love.gif
She literally was transfixed on the screen and when it was over was NOT ready to leave!! I am so blessed!!
Onto chicken/duck/guinea news. I really HATE my guineas today!! They ganged up on one of my ONLY POL hens and were flogging her. I am ashamed to say I could do nothing but chuck a piece of wood at the group (not hitting any) and they did disperse!! DH wanted to use them for target practice which I refused!! He did say if it happens again (since they are growing increasingly aggressive and have attacked other chickens...even killing one of my younger boys) they will be locked out of the coop.

On GOOD news...my handsome lover-boy duck, Cadbury, must have felt like it was spring...because he was sowing his manly oats yesterday!! LOL At least I know we will be getting duck eggs this spring then!!

Wild - I'm praying for you!!

I was so excited that my sickness FINALLY went away....but then it came back!!

I am hoping yours will end soon!!

I am so sorry about your missing birds!! We've ALL had moments like those!! I'm loving these stories about Levi!!

Welcome to all the new people!! Have a great day!!

Hi Beth,

Thanks for the silkies today. They are so cute and Parker loves them. ( That's a good thing since he is 65 )
How did you do at the Flock Swap today ?

I still want to meet you Thursday and get the Serama eggs. If you will please send the address for the office you will be at I can map quest it.
The black and white Seramas my neighbor bought from you today are beautiful. Are their parents that color ?

Thanks again ,

Phyllis G.

P.S. What brand of incubator do you use ? .. I need to get a new one and want a digital one that controls the temperature and humidity.

You are welcome.
I will send you a PM with the address for the doc. office.

My Serama are all different colors, they will continue to change until they are about 8 months- 1 year old.

My advice on a fool proof incubator is the Genesis 1588

Spend the extra and buy the turners... SO worth the money.
