do you sell hatching eggs?? I must have some

I have some that are between 1 and 3 months old. some crested some not. That I need to go to make room for others.

Do I notice a brahma trend or what????!!!

I feel like we are getting closer and closer to starting our adventure! Hubby got the rafters for the roof installed this weekend and 1 of 4 walls up on the coop building. We also visited a vendor this weekend and received a very informative tour of his farm and purchased fresh eggs!! Yummo! I don't think we can decide on one breed so we are going to start with 1- Buff Orphingtons, 1-Lavender Orphington, 1-cucco Maran, 2-RIR. What do you think? Good starter set?

You're doing just hens for eggs, right? No breeding? If so, then I'd suggest either an Ameraucana or an Easter Egger. You'd enjoy the color!

Sounds lovely...I agree with the EE Hollow suggested. I love gathering the pretty egg everyday and we will be adding a Maran this spring too for more lovely color. Our Lav Orp laid all winter, she slowed down to one egg every 2 days instead of everyday but she is a trooper. She is head chicken here. You will enjoy her.

New chickies arrived this morning!!

9 cornish cross (supposed to be 11, but these things happen), 5 black jersey giants (they threw in an extra!), 5 speckled susses (our old favorites), 3 gold laced wyandottes, 2 blue red wyandottes (their fluffy little silver/grey color is adorable), and 1 extra (of course)... I think the extra is a Silver Spangled Hamburg, which seems very nifty I was reading up on them, as I don't know anything about them, and they mention them as flighty, which is funny because this little guy is almost the friendliest out of the group - maybe he/she is feeling lonely as the only one-of-a-kind

Well I had my first experience with a hawk today. I was out in the yard working and went inside for a minute. When I came back out, all the chickens were gone except for my two roos. Most of them were hiding under my trailer and the rest were in the coop or tractor shed. One of them was walking towards the tree that the hawk was in. I went in to get my bb gun to shoot at it but it ended up flying away. I guess I got really lucky today.

Isn't it awful?! We think we lost our speckled suss hen to a hawk this past autumn. I used to think hawks were so beautiful... until they started stalking our birds! I think we must have at least 4 adults that live extremely close - and they are Big! I am happy to hear everyone made it through safely. It is funny to watch my girls hide, now, from the hawks. I think losing Georgette must have really taught them something, because at least they make some sort of effort. I will find them scattered everywhere, with some hunched close to the ground under bushes, trying to blend in with the leaves

Hello, I'm Ashley, and I'm a Hatchoholic. Despite my late-season hatching comments last year that might give you some impression that I was "burned out," or that I "might take next hatching season off," many months have passed. I now stalk my Swedish Flower Hens for fertile eggs. I have ravaged the internet for quality Silver Laced Wyandotte hatching eggs and taken part in an Ebay auction until the last minute. I then emailed the owner to ensure that they know the winner of the auction. I bugged my husband to bring my incubating stuff down from the attic. I spent way too much time today sanitizing and organizing my incubator. I already have it running to make sure it is ready to set said eggs on Thursday. God save anyone or anything that intervenes in my plan to set six SLW eggs and my SFH eggs, however many there shall be on said date. I cannot be responsible for my actions toward anyone interfering with this operation.

Yes, we are just raising chickens for their eggs I don't think our neighbors would appreciate the wake up call in downtown Charlotte.
