how old 2strays??? the only one that might be a roo is the middle picture of the splash silkie
The top 4 almost 4 months old. The bottom one? Are you talking about the blk. and white or the golden silkie? So you think the black one might be a girl? I hope so. In the sun her feathers look like emeralds. We are not sure what she/he is. It has the black skin 5 toes and the head is looking silkie but not the feathers. Might be mix with cochin. I really want the sultan , she is so tiny and her owner has problems with the grownups feet bleeding. She saids only the sultans have this problem. How do you treat this, I'm sure she would love to know.

Yes! Our first egg since November when the last of my old flock got put down. There are eight more pullets in this age range. Soon we will at least be providing for ourselves, even if I won't have enough for customers yet. No more nasty store-bought eggs! WooHoo!!!

Tomorrow I build a grow out coop... but for the sake of getting yelled at we are going to call it a chicken tractor!

So I can house the new additions coming till they get big enough to hang with the big girls

At 4 months that black silkie cross is a pullet. The black and white silkie looks like a roo. I had two sultan hens and never had a problem with their feet or shank feathering. Does she keep them on wire flooring?

I have seen them in a coop with wire flooring. They don't stay in there just when they want time to be alone. She has way to many roosters. The ground is dirt on one side grass o the other. How are silkie roos far as temperant goes. Being I don't have a rooster now. He is pretty. A co-worker is hatching some buff Orp, in the spring. I want a friendly rooster not to aggressive.

got the new raised bed all filled with compost and fill still need to get it turned over but things are coming along. picked up some steamed crimped oats for the chickens wow did they go nuts. its been quiet in here Jon

Hi there! May I ask you where you found the crimped oats? They sound marvelous for my flock! Thanks!
