Oh, really? Do you find this info on Craigslist or is there somewhere else to look?

YAY!! I just brought in FOUR eggs from the chicken run. Too bad NONE of them had been in the coop. I'll have to work on training the hens to lay in there but for now, I'm just glad they are starting to really lay. Six eggs in a week and a half when I wasn't expecting any before Easter ain't bad. Thanks to ncgrammie for the awesome Easter Eggers. They are all not 17 weeks old so this is really early I know to be getting eggs so I'm happy.

Soo, third coyote sighting in two weeks. first two were just running through the back field into the woods. today it was next to the fence, staring into the yard at our chickens and ducks. hubby chased after it and it hasn't been back. I want a dog, hubby says geese will attack a coyote, and wants some geese instead. I think geese have as much chance of being a meal as the ducks and chickens. should i convince him to let me get a dog, or is he right?

Geese are good protectors and so are Tom turkeys, but................ an emu is better

We've lost geese to foxes, so I doubt one could guard against a coyote. We've had a few turkey hens disappear. Something got them, and coyotes are the biggest thing around.

I am the only person in my neighborhood who can keep free range chickens and its because I have three dogs and I have a wireless fence collar for them to stay out all day with. I don't even have squirrels in my yard. The last one that ventured in, my Walker Hound took care of. They chase the herons away from my koi as well. I don't know what I would do without that wireless fence system, and without a dog for protection.

omg I look out at coop tonight at dusk and guess what I see.... that Cornish X sitting on the steps of the coop. Just chillin. I walked very slowly up to it and snatched up and put in coop. It was happy to be there... ran right under heat lamp. Quite an adventure for a four week old. My beagle already misses him cause he has tried to crawl under coop twice looking for him.

yea! I am happy the thought of him freezing to death or something getting him was upsetting.

Have a great Sat everyone.... I will be officiating all day! Get out and enjoy it for me!
