Sooo sad today! My little "scissor beak"chick died last night. She was a lot smaller that the other 6 girls. She seemed tobe doing well and never bothered the other girls. When I came home from work I checked and counted the girls. The little one was missing. When I opened the coop, she was just laying there near the opening to the pen. There was no blood so I don't think she was attacked by the others. She might have gotten laid on by accident. Well, guess she's better off. She struggled so much to eat and drink with her beak like it was. I am using my DH computer so I can't download a pic of little"scissor". Previously posted a pic though.

On another note - got some compost to put in the garden. Got it all raked in and ready for my friend to come by to till it for me. Plants to come

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Today is Saturday!! I hope everyone has a great day - we will be busy around here...need to mow the meadow down (haha) - I mean lawn, and get a few of my seeds IN the ground before it's too late!! We moved broody mama last night to her new home with fresh water and feed - all she did was yell at us to the rooster for a good 10 minutes and the rooster yelled right back. LOL. She was happy to have SO many eggs!! I did give her a total of 14 eggs (DH was afraid if we took the warm eggs away from her, she wouldn't sit on the nest, so she has the 2 she's been sitting on)...will it make much of a difference?? She was only sitting on those eggs for a day, maybe 2??
I'm off to clean the kitchen while everyone is asleep and figure out what will be eaten for meals today and get the prep started. LOL

HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE!!

Good Morning, Happy Chicken People!

Long day yesterday, long night last night, and I still haven't gone to feed yet this morning.

NH, you run the risk of the hen leaving the nest with the earlier chicks, or them needing water and food while the other chicks are still hatching. I'd pull those eggs and make sure they are all on the same timing. But that's me.

Have a great day!

:frow Good morning......um i mean afternoon(gesh I'm running late today) everyone! Hope you all are having a great day so far. i have eggs going into lockdown tomorrow :celebrate. cleaning out flooded pens today :( not fun. The wind from the storm the other night blew the rain in from the south which flooded all my pens and barn since they all face the south :he evil weather.
Hope you all have a great rest of the day. :D

Had a busy day today - but sooo satisfying. What a beautiful day!
Tilled the garden, put more mulch down. My little GD (think that's right for granddaughter) played in her small pool today. She liked "skinny dipping" better

Although I lost my "scissor" beak chick, I was given and extra so I am back to the amount I wanted in the beginning (6)
