So guys? The other 2 bantams seem fine. I am still keeping them away from the others though. Now this other little one I just feel bad for. Poor little rascal. I've been giving duramycin in water and dusted to mites and lice and he did eat some mashed banana. Yey? I hope he pulls through but he is not my chicken. I know DH had the best of intentions but at the same time I think he's learned his lesson. Cleaning chicken poo is not his favorite chore.

I am sorry but...........

If my DH sold my birds and brought home something he thought I would like which turned out to be sick... he would be in charge of all feeding/caring for/medicatinf/housing/cleaning for HIS sick birds. And then he would willingly hand over the necessary funds so that I could purchase the bird(S) I wanted. Top of my list would be the most high-maintenance shiw Silkie in NC.

Then I would sell 4 of his guns, and a crossbow.

That's just me.

In other news my DH (who closed the coop door last night) reported that one of my little girls spent the night outside the coop...lets just say he's on the verge. Baaahahahaha

sbrooks-- so sorry your boyfriend did that!
DEFINITELY QUARANTINE THEM!!!
And not just a separate pen, they need to be far apart, I would even store their food in different bins so you don't cross contaminate when filling their feeders.
I got sick auction birds once and it spread. I had to cull ALL my birds, tear down and destroy all the pens, coops, fences and throw away all the feeders, waterers, food....
It was a nightmare! I REALLY hope that doesn't happen to you, just be super careful.

Eggs don't have to be refrigerated. We're the only country I know of that does, although I assume there is another one somewhere that I don't know about! Rule of thumb, though...don't wash if you keep them on the counter. Wash if they're going in the fridge.

Oh! And congratulations on the egg!

I wiped it off with a baby wipe but did not wash it. Ok I guess I will leave them out.

I'd wash that babywipe residue off now, and refrigerate! The shells are porous. Once you've wiped the bloom off, it's a bacterial field day.
