I don't get staying away from chickens when pregnant. Cat litter, yes. But chickens? I do understand it for chemo. Your immune system is depressed and you could possibly contract salmonella, or have respiratory issues from dander. Perhaps salmonella is the risk they are looking at for pregnancy, but if the pregnancy is normal I shouldn't think there would be any higher risk. But, I'm no doc, and don't play one on TV. But it does seem as if that would be more common knowledge, like cats, if there was something important.

I seen a quick thing in the paper (didn't have a chance to read it though)  you gonna get to keep your job??

Hmmmm....I did not see what you saw. Word right now is that my job is secure. They need the biology department to support the pre-nursing program. If they cut us, they have to cut the new program, too.

Ok so much for craigs list. These idiots keep thinking I'm posting pictures of hens and "cockerel" in the description means nothing to them either. Here is the link. http://winstonsalem.craigslist.org/grd/4126728499.html Anywho... I have 3 6 month BO's I need to re-home. My boyfriend is asking $10 each but we can negotiate

I am just too attached to these 3 to stick in the freezer. Plus after dressing 24 others and having to get stitches the last go around. I DON"T WANT TO!!

Are all three cockerels or do you have some hens to go with them?

Lindz- Sorry my mom said that 2 years a just a little older than what she is willing to get... And she doesn't seem to keen on getting the rooster right now with our busy schedule (and if its just picking up a rooster). Anyway thanks though, he is pretty and I bet the hens are too.

These are some pictures of the two Japanese Buff Black Tail Bantams that our friends are wanting to sell. They are only asking $2 bucks a cockerel since she doesn't have any hens to go with them.

Here are the parents:

If anyone is interested just let me know!

Also I was just wondering, does anyone have any Cochin laying hens by any chance? We are wanting to get a few hens to each of our banty roosters. We have Romeo and Juliet (Our Golden Campines) and Elvis and Percilla (Our Buff Cochins). We really want some mille fleur cochins but didn't get any from that one person because he was only selling the pairs and wouldn't just sell us hens. Right now though, I'm not going to be picky about color with the Cochins right now though... We just want a few hens, preferably laying or soon to be laying pullets.

I will probably hatch some bantam cochin chicks in the spring.... I have 4 chicks right now, 2 cockerels and 2 pullets, but I am planning on keeping all but one of the cockerels. If you are still looking in the spring let me know, and I will hatch some for you.

If you can wait until spring at least- don't know where you are- but unless I can somehow move my flock across the country, I'll have some. I have a pair of black bantam roos, a gorgeous set of bantam birchens, and I have a barred bantam. All two of the girls are regularly laying. (Still a bit annoyed that 4 of the 6 were boys.....) The barred is one of our favorites and absolutely the most human social out of all of them.
