Iceman...you're hilarious!

Banriona...awesome news! Keep it up, Molly!

20 degrees this morning. That means I have to haul hot water to thaw ice too thick for me to break. Thank goodness for flannel lined jeans and heat packs! The cold is not my friend, either!
Banriona:..I'm so excited for you! My little one is sitting in my lap right now but when you were talking about your baby, I was putting him in your baby's place and I could have cried for you...Hang in there...Your family is his best friend right now..

You are so right....cold is not a friend when you have to take care of you chickens in the winter. hauled mine also...usually have my wheelchair due to balance problems but it is in the shop with my car ! So I know I was funny looking,...yard is on a slight slant...my feet can't tell me how I'm stepping! I usually use my car to scoot down to the coop. Its not that far...just dangerous for me. I got them some water down there and took them the rest of the oatmeal from yesterday...then on the trip back to the house.....yep....I ate some dirt. That's always fun! don't feel sorry for me...laugh with me. I'll let you know when I need sympathy...LOLOL

I highly recommend a muck tub cart.( http://www.tractorsupply.com/en/store/tuff-stuff-products-tuff-muck-bucket-cart-300-lb ) I can pile gallon jugs of water in it...or anything else...and it's almost like having a rollator. Unlike a wheelbarrow, which you have to pick up on, the muck tub cart you push down on to roll. No strength to speak of needed. Something to hold onto to balance with. I can leave my stick behind when I have this with me.

But in the meantime, I'll laugh with you. We must laugh at ourselves! As long as you didn't break anything when you hit the ground, and could get back up, then all is reasonably well.

This is the coldest winter I can remember! Just got my electric bill, $231 & I am sure next month will be even more!!!

Hope these duckys don't freeze in the post office!

Date night tonight, don't know when the last time I had one of those was!!! Going to see Jason Aldean at the coliseum since he's DH's favorite.

Dutchbunny83, this is a really cold winter! I hope my chickens and ducks stay warm and don't freeze! Hope your ducklings will be okay!!

I looked on Craigslist for east nc & no one is selling chicks right now, only taking orders. Anyone hatching chicks this month, maybe 1-2 hrs driving distance? I need one or 2 friends for this big boy right here (actually not sure if it's a boy)
400

As you can see, it's not doing too well. I have a stuffed animal & mirror in the brooder, but real friends would be better. I live in Craven co. If you live a reasonable driving distance, I can pick up. I only say this because I have to keep a close eye on the little guy.

how far are you from Fuquay? I have a breeder here in town always selling chicks

I know what you mean about the kids. I have tried to stay away from everyone that is sick & go figure, I have had the flu for 2 weeks now. It has kicked my tail to say the least.

I also agree that the snow is beautiful, but if hate having to unfreeze water in the pens, my poor hubby has had to do it all by himself the last 2 weeks. My poor ducks have walked on their pond instead of swimming in it, but they are the only ones that don't seem to mind the cold. Lol. I am so ready for at least a little warmer weather...lol

got home from work (at the vets office) at 7 and had to give my big boy his ivermectin, he fought me tooth and nail

lol had to flip him on his back and hold his comb so he wouldn't try to peck me while i gave it to him

and mom was fussing the whole time about it being to cold to be out doing stuff like this

Staying home again tomorrow, and will be planning on making several water runs during the day. I'm so glad the coldest days have been on ones where I don't have class and don't have to go anywhere! So far everyone is doing well through it here.
