We just have a hateful man across the field who got mad last year when we found out he was putting his personal garden on our farm! We told him he should've asked. Not angrily. Just simply ask next time. Then he kept having his folks go fishin at our pond and it was getting old so we changed the lock on the gate. 2 days later there was bullet holes in the boat. Then his son was driving real fast up the path and my dad told him not to anymore because of all the animals. Needless to say we've had 4 chickens and a dog die and a dog shot in the last 6 months. And I think he did it all! Hateful. Just pure mean. That's just fine. I'll set up a blessed trail camera and catch whatever. Then I ll have proof

I am so sorry about your roosters. If it's your neighbor, I really REALLY hope you can get some solid evidence against the guy. Document everything. Keep a record of all of your interactions with him as well as a record of all the losses that you believe him to be responsible for. I really hate vengeful people.. especially ones that take out their aggression on defenseless animals. I hope you heal fast from having your wisdom teeth out too. That's a really rough day. Yikes!

Sbrooks it definitely sounds like poison. Do they free range? maybe there's a poisonous plant or snake somewhere. A broken neck would have killed him instantly. Its so weird only the roosters are affected. Fertilizer or any type of chemical in the area could be it too.

Somewhat similar. I'm can't "find" his crop though. He doesn't eat a lot And it feel like nothing is there. I hold him really gentle too because he is just bone now. Really fragile and honestly I'm scared I will "break" him. He can no longer stand alone. I have to support him and he has pillows and blankets to prop him up. He is literally dying right in front of me. Wasting away and there isn't a thing I can do about it. Part of me wants to pray he will just go painlessly in his sleep. But the other part of me isn't ready to let go and give up yet. :(
so sorry for all you are going through. I really hope your roo pulls through!

Looking for a pair of polish, rooster and hen. Can be pol of a little younger. Would prefer not to be much over a year old. Thanks for any help. Friend looking for some for his wife for Mother's Day present. Willing to pick up. Thans for any help with this search. He didn't say anything about colors as he doesn't have much to do with chickens.

Numbness has finally worn off! They gave me norco for pain but it's not helping. My whole jaw is swollen.

I actually went and picked them up. Of course, after I got them home, I noticed that a few were cracked. It was several months ago when we had some really cold weather. It looked like some had started to freeze before they were collected. I didn't bother incubating those. I pulled a few more out that didn't develop or stopped developing. Only about a half dozen made it to lock down. The ones that did hatch were 3 days late but only 1 of those survived. The other eggs in the incubator had good hatch rates.

That is an interesting situation! I would assume the potential freeze-thaw would give you those problems. So far I haven't incubated in winter.. So I guess I'm lucky to have not dealt with that variable.
I would suggest trying again! Just don't wait until it's so hot you have variables on the opposite end of the spectrum. :)

Good morning folks

Looks like we may be in for a bit of weather
the next few days. Our birds have free access
to outside and it's amazing how many will go
out in the rain. What is bothersome is they will
track in mud to the nest box and onto the eggs.

hope everyone has a good day

Our chicks should weather the storms quite well seeing as how they are still in the brooding box on our bathroom counter. Ha!

We have some in our back bedroom ......will be so glad to get them out!!! But my worry is the ones our in a "dog Kennel" topped with pallet and covered with a tarp. Everything is staked down and tied down and they have shelter withing but still its just a dog kennel !!!! They are 9 weeks now so they have been outside for about 2 weeks. They love it but I don't have my coop built yet. They are EE's.. The ones in the bedroom are BCM's and are 3 weeks..... I'm worried about them today but can't do anything more than what I've done at this point. I have a large piece strapped over the front of the coop to block off as much of the water as possible from the rain.
