The Olive Eggers I have now are backwards of yours-- Marans rooster over an Ameraucana hen. Their eggs are gorgeous! The birds are really pretty too-- feathered shanks, big beards & muffs, they're a pretty big bird too.
(didn't make them myself as I don't keep roosters, got mail order eggs from a BYC'er in Florida)

I am using a Marans hen with my Wheaten Ameraucana rooster to get Olive Eggers. The Marans has increased the egg size and her daughter's size. I find that the Wheaten Ameraucana's eggs are smaller but a very pretty shade of blue. I just hatched out some Production Red/Ameraucana crosses. Again, these chicks are larger than the pure Ameraucanas chicks.

Since you use Marans, would you know if the chest coloring on this one on the right is a sign of it being a roo?.. most of them are just getting the copper around the neck area. I think they are around six weeks

LOL.... I've never had marans so I've never had to deal with the larger combs !! not used to trying to figure them out either !!

I have a Black Copper Marans hen that I thought was a rooster. I was going to sell her but fortunately she laid an egg and convinced me otherwise.

To me, the chick on the right looks like a rooster, but I've been wrong before!
