Can snakes eat 2-3 month old pullets? I live next to a swamp and I still haven't seen any snakes but im worried.

I have seen snakes eat pigeons and try to eat a full grown silkie only to just spit it up because it was too big, but the snake did end up killing the adult silkie before it found out that it was too big to eat.

We lost several to black snakes last year. The snake would kill one and then realize that it was too big and regurgitate it. This year, I'm waiting until they are a bit bigger to let them free range. I haven't seen a single one since we got our barn cats though. Definitely keep grass cut and eliminate places for them to hide.

I think it probably depends on the rooster! My rooster was only about a month older than the pullets (which were about 2 months old) I lost last year. He wouldn't have been able to help if he'd wanted to. Now that he's all grown up though, I'm sure he wouldn't let a snake get near his girls. We live in the middle of the woods and we have tons of wildlife around. Unless you've seen snakes around, you probably don't have too much to worry about. Just be vigilant... and don't give snakes places to hide. Your rooster can only protect them if he can see it coming.

We usually let the snakes alone as they do keep the mouse
population down a bit and we even don't mind the occasional
egg taken by a snake but snakes that go after the birds get a trip
down the road to the woods where they can live wild and away from
people. Snakes have their use. If you want to keep them out of your
coop keep the grass short and put down sulfur powder often around
the outside of your coop.....about a foot or so away.

Idk if you guys remember the chick I posted that i hatched off of the blue andalusian I got at auction that had been bred with a lavender orpington or not but this is her... My wife refused to let me sell her
