Where is everyone?

:frow

I usually just watch this thread and it is always surprising when there are lulls. :)
My chickens decided yesterday that it was okay to lay a few extra eggs and I got more than I have since our previous drought started about a month ago. My turkey also decided that she's been ugly long enough and is growing all new feathers. I can always tell where she roosted because of the pile of feathers on the floor each morning. ;)
Fingers crossed she will lay a few more eggs after her moult.

I've just been watching, too. Otherwise I'll just be posting more pictures of baby humans instead of baby chickies!

But I DID get the Juvenile Detention Center cleaned out really well this morning. That was good. The meatie chicks that were in there really fouled the place up. They are now in the rabbit barn.

I'm so pleased my son is going to come next weekend so hubby and I can go visit the baby together. He'll take good care of the critters, and I won't have to board the dogs. They've never been boarded before, so that was causing us some worry. And a friend had offered, but I worry that Murphy would not be happy with that, and might even bite. Having Joe come is perfect.

I let the young pullets out for the first time today! They are having a blast. I also left our Buff Orpington Broody hen out with her two little bantam chicks. Out of the 10 eggs I gave her, only three successfully hatched, and then one chick died at about 2 weeks. So none the less she showed her little chicks the world for the first time today. :)

Just wanted to share some pictures of my Orpington pullets and Orpington cockerel. The three of them have really unique coloring. They are crosses from my blue rooster and buff hens (my splash was broody at the time, oh well). The two pullets are blue, but have buff looking chests.

Then my little rooster.

He didn't want to look at the camera. He didn't get any of Dad's coloring, like his sisters. He still looks like he's going to grow up to be really pretty.

I went for a great trail ride yesterday with my mom and some family friends up at Morrow Mountain. Made me remember how much I love riding; I really need to find more time to ride. :/

I go out to check on everybody and I found a roundworm in some bodies poop. I found 3 in some bodies poop last week in another pen. I just wormed everybody in April. Isn't this a little soon to see them again? I use Valbazen. Should I re-worm again? When I did this my babies were weeks old now they are almost 4 months. How old should they be to get the treatment? They are in separate pens.

Yeah, worms can be rampant in the warm months. That's why I use preventatives between wormings.
I don't know any specifics on Valbazen, maybe someone else will have your answer.
