My two silkie pullets laid their first eggs today. BOTH girls laid the first egg on the same day! How weird is that?

My two exchequer leghorn sisters laid their first eggs within two days of each other about a week ago! So cool that yours synchronized! :)

I did a necropsy, I'll spare you the pictures it was pretty gross haha.

I went all through the stomach and intestines and couldn't find any worms. However, his intestines were leaking into his insides. As soon as we cut him open there was a horrific smell like he was rotting from the inside out. Is it possible to get a tear in the intestines or some sort or parasite eat through the intestines to cause them to internally leak like that? I haven't cut apart too many animals, but it definitely shouldn't look like that.

Edit: I think the actual death was from peritonitis from the intestines leaking, but not sure how or why they did to begin with. Found this from google research, I didn't realize peritonitis happened with birds, but I guess it could happen to any animal. I actually had it about 10 years ago after my gulbladder ruptured. It was insanely painful, I'm surprised the peacock wasn't showing symptoms.

Dutch, I second Beth. Plus, if you had it, you know how quickly it can come on. Could have killed him before you saw symptoms.

Quote: A third pullet from the same hatch has a new owner. I just heard from her that the pullet laid her first egg on the same day. That's all three pullets from the hatch. The other two are Cockerels so we'll have to overlook them
