It's back to the freezer for us today.........it's down right cold
out there this morning but it is only Feb. after all so I guess
a cold spell is not unexpected yet. I just wish I could shake
this congestion in the chest.........getting real tired of the cough.

2strayroos.........dedicated rehab will be the key to quick recovery.
I had knee replacement......twice....in 6 months time.......it's a
long story but doing the rehab is what gets you back to going
the best. Good luck.

Good Morning!

Good luck with the surgery, 2strayroos!

The birds I bred last year are giving me gorgeous olive eggs! One is speckled, which is what i was hoping for. The second is not speckled...but I'll keep working on it!

While I'm in a picture-posting mood, here's one of my Levi. The Leviathan is now on a diet, as he weighed in at 230 on Monday. Beast. However, he is learning to behave around chickens, finally. I can only let my pullets out when I'm with them,, as I have a pair of hawks and "something" else targeting them. So I take Levi with me and we work on chicken manners. He still thinks they are fun to chase, but he at least knows not to catch one now. I've even come home to chickens out when he is out and he has not messed with them. Finally learning at 2 years old!

19 degrees at 11am here. Wow! what a change. 52 yesterday. The sun is out so maybe a pretty day at least. My hens have started pouring the eggs out since I put a light in their coop to come on at 4 am and go off at 10 am. They had a long inactive laying period because of the location of the coop in my mtns. The light is a nec. in my position here. They seem quite happy and healthy so far. Finally. Ihad lost two at the beginning of Nov. I guess they were just not thrifty. All the others seem fine. I hated it though. My roo from Kathy was one of them. He was just turning two. I am getting eggs later , maybe march to hatch some more. He was a sweet roo never a minutes worry from him. And he was large too. The wings did go down a bit much but otherwise, I love d the fellow his name was Adam.
Hope everyone is feeling better today. winter is not my season either. I get seasonal depression and lots of other things hop on for the ride as well. After you pass 65 I guess its sort of expected but never welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG why is it so hard to get certain breeds up in here! I've been contacting sellers and breeders and none have what i need or their prices are too steep cause of the distance between us.

What are you hunting for?
Arranged according to priority

Wheaten ameracaunas roo/pullets/eggs- I have a pair but the roo is an "inbetweener" he has batam in his background so he is smaller than LF but bigger than bantam. And i don't like small birds. Still gonna breed them but I need a LF infusion.

Mille fleur roo OR speckle sussex roo

Sulmtaler roo

I'll be getting a Wheaten Ameraucana trio from an ABC breeder down in Charlotte in a few weeks. He is thinning his flock a little and may have a pair/trio for you too. He goes to a lot of poultry shows, so you might be able to meet him somewhere instead of driving to Charlotte. You can look up his contact info on the ABC directory. His name is Don.
I'm also ordering some hatching eggs. They are actually pretty common to come by...
