North Carolina

Yes right now they all in the same coop and run the breeding coop not finished yet. I know she has adopted most of the eggs the last few days, I have been trying to catch her off the nest with no luck. She is very defensive of her nest, guess I just need to pick her up. what is best to mark the egg? A pencil? figure a marker could bleed thru.

Help !! Does anyone on here have BBS orp. hatching eggs? I now have 4 setting hens. I also want Kathyinmo Dell. eggs. PLEASE if you know anyone who will mail eggs in NC or close in Tenn. or Ga. let me know. Thanks Gloria Jean

I don't know how many if any of you could or would be interested in helping... But there was a cockfighting ring in SC that was raided last night. Carolina Waterfowl Rescue now has many more birds than they can handle (100+ roosters)... that need good homes! They also need help in the form of transportation, donations, and just well HELP. They also had a large influx of chickens and chicks, and ducks prior to this. Please if you can, and are genuinely interested, email them. You can read more about the rescue efforts, and the rescue in general on their facebook page
https://www.facebook.com/cwrescue?fref=ts
or Email any questions to [email protected]

I do not volunteer for Carolina Waterfowl Rescue, but I am advocating for the ones that need our help. Please do not be rude, nasty or negative.

I looked at their facebook page. Other rescues are offering to help if they can come up with resources. Here is one in Western NC, for example: https://www.facebook.com/chickenrescueandsanctuary

There is a go fund me page now also: http://www.gofundme.com/qfzsik

It is sickening to me to think of people fighting these beautiful birds :( And apparently dogs too. Kudos to the rescuers!

Hello again! Hope everyone is doing well. Finally feels like Spring again, I hope it stays! This is the latest I've ever attempted to put a garden in.

Doing good over here. Got rid of the quail, ducks, turkey, and down to a few rabbits. Somehow ended up with a pig haha. But we've been focusing mainly on the chickens. Speaking of, anyone local have Isbar, Cream Legbar, or rumples araucana eggs for sale? My last few mail orders didn't go so great, so trying to stay close by.
I've been hatching Olive Eggers recently and I'm really happy with them. I want to try with some other blue and green laying breeds to see what comes from them.

Enjoy the sunshine today!

Good morning guys!

My Dad and I are finishing my back yard coop this weekend! Yay!!! I would really love to get some hens in by the beginning of next week. Due to Forsyth County ordinances, I can only have up to 6 hens. I've ordered 2 black Australorp from BunnyMomma at HensAndFriends, but they won't be ready for pick-up for about 5 more weeks. Could anyone recommend someone local who has large heritage breed hens that are available now? I know most probably just have chicks, but I'm just so excited about getting started I can hardly stand myself!

True araucana eggs are always hard to get good fertility on, the tufted gene is a deadly one (if the chick receives one copy of the gene from each parent) also and the rumpless-ness makes it hard for breeding from what I have read.

I have used pencil, pen, marker, and crayon all of which slowly wears off. So whatever you use, you will have to remark the eggs.

First broody hen for me and first time hatching hope it all works out, we are so excited.
