Good morning folks

Good to see you are still in the area Dutchbunny

Not sure what I want to try to plant for the garden this year.
There are so many veggies we like and only so much space
for a garden. We do like squash and zucchini but that takes up
so much space. What is everyone planting this year?

i've gotten my tomatoes started, along with some kohlrabi... i'm getting my lettuce sown this weekend... i started some bell peppers inside... but they aren't looking too hot right now... i had some good success last year with trellising (is that a word? it is now.) my summer squash and zucchini... so i think i'll do that again this year... i had some watermelons that tried to do that on their own too- that didn't work so well... they pulled down the fence- silly melons. i'll have my herbs out in full force this weekend too! oh i LOVE spring!!!

We have spinach, broccoli, cabbage, lettuce, kale, potatoes, carrots, onions and peas in the garden. I'm not starting anything indoors this year, as for some reason I have incubators on my light table. I'll just have to pick up started tomatoes and peppers. We'll put in cucumbers, and likely some patty pan squash. Maybe a yellowneck or two. I don't like cooked squash, but those two are good raw in salads or with dip, like cucumbers. We are sowing more spinach and lettuce weekly. The rabbits will get a fair bit of the leafy greens and most of the carrots. They'll also get the thinnings from the peas.

We haven't decided yet what else to put in for summer. Our work schedules and my limited ability to garden means that the last few years the garden has kinda gotten away from us. Hubby is trying to keep up with it until the semester is over and I can do more, but I have trouble gripping a hoe, and bending to the ground (Well, I can bend...it's getting back up that's the problem.) Hubby is also looking at knee surgery this summer, so we need to keep it light.

On the other hand, I got cherry trees, another persimmon, lots of blueberries, more raspberries, and a couple more gooseberries, plus replacement kiwi in. The trees are in chicken pastures. The rest have been fenced off so the dang gigantor dogs with five gallon bladders don't pee all over them and kill them like they did last year. Grrrr.

I hope to meet some of you there! I will be showing my (from @ramirezframing ) silver Lakenvelders. I'm sure this will be a great learning experience for me

and the birds (it's gotta be easier (maybe just different) than showing horses right?!?!) any advice for the newbie would be very much appreciated!

I liked my frizzled rooster very much, but something liked it better, evidenced by the hole in the ground under the fence and the feathers....so, live trap set and baited....I would hate to be whatever is caught in that thing....


Looking an interesting rooster....another frizzled would be cool
