Just wanted to say thanks for the great advice for my broody! She spent two days seperated in her crate on a roost and finally gave up! She was back to her old self yesterday, free ranging with the girls and enjoyed a slice of cantaloupe! And......she layed an egg today! So glad to have my "head chick in charge" back!:)

It's good to hear you had a 'good' go of it! Just remember alot of broodies will not break so easy.

AFCHICK a note of clarification:
The decision ruling states NO PUBLIC SALES. At this time there is no restriction on PRIVATE sales that I have read anywhere.

Eeeek! I was on the phone with a local industry farm hatcher friend and he asked about private while I was typing and thus I typed it lol sorry and thanks

LOL. Just hoping you didn't know something not out yet.
Up side is it will stop some of those nasty auctions and flock swaps.
At this time no more than sitting on on several meetings and what is printed at this time is all that was discussed...
Amen to the nasty auctions and swaps- I even feel dirty after typing it <shudder> LOL

One of the articles out about AI coming to NC makes it sound like free range and backyard chickens are going to be their scapegoats if AI does come. It made me pretty sad. We are going to try to empty livestock out of one side of our barn so we can keep the chickens in there from August to January. Keeping them in a barn makes me sad too! But at least maybe it will make us not look like a risk when the USDA comes knocking...
