North Carolina

I'm stressing a bit lately because I am going to be thinning out my flock in a few weeks. I don't know how many roos I have yet, but probably a couple. We spend a lot of time handling them, so they are pretty friendly and have been treated as beloved pets. They're Silkies and Seramas, (also two BA pullets) so not good for eating anyway, but I'd still like to find them good homes. I know roosters are a dime a dozen and difficult to find homes for other than a stew pot. I've always had sexed chicks so haven't really had to deal with the issue of roosters yet. These are from my first hatch, so I knew getting boys were part of it, but this is still going to be hard for us. Anyway, I feel like Craigslist isn't the best place to find good homes, and the flock swaps are suspended until January, (we went to one, and it was pretty nasty anyway). What do you guys do when you have to rehome a roo around here?

We post it either in the for sale or free to a good home sections in the forum. -buy sell or trade- then click in the subsection you're interested in posting it in.

Yeah, I feel like the BYC community is a good place to find homes.

Worked on downsizing and resorting some breeding pens this weekend. Happy with the progress. Now to just get rid of the hens that don't "fit" anymore. Most are started pullets.
