North Carolina

Hi all!

It is with great sadness, that I am selling my farm and having to rehome all my chickens. If you are interested, all of them are being rehomed for free, but must be gone by the end of October (or at least a majority of them). I am located between Greensboro and Asheboro.

For your consideration: If you are interested in any of the birds below, please email me at [email protected] for photos or more information:
*Welsummer juvenile pair (heritage stock)
*Blue Laced Red Wyandotte Cockerel
*Assorted Swedish Flower pullet and several cockerels
*Ameraucanas (heritage stock; ***'t colors)
*Lakenvelders (***'t ages)
*Barred Plymouth Rock Pair (approx 4 years old)- Duckworth lines
*Lakenvelder/Sebright Mixes (very flashy birds, great foragers) both cockerels and pullets
*Nankin pullets & cockerels (hatchery stock)
*3 quail (1 male, 2 female) will come with their houses
*1 olive egger, 1 cream legbar
****'t production red & white hens (2 yrs old)

all are very friendly and roos (of all ages) are extremely nice and respectful -even of strangers :) great with the barn cats and horses too.

thank you for your consideration.
Any left? Ill be glad to take some off your hands.

I heard a local ad this morning for a candidate who was mocking his opponent in reference to him having backyard chickens. I really wish I could find it now, I've looked, but I can't remember either candidate's name. Does anyone else know who it was? I thought it was really odd for an NC candidate to do that given the growing popularity of backyard flocks. I bet he's getting raged on and I just want to find the chicken forum where it's happening LOL

Anyone know of a poultry processor in the Durham/Greensboro area?
Are you wanting someone to process your birds? I think you may get more satisfaction than you think by doing it yourself. I had to put one of mine down and as sad as it was I went ahead and tried to do the processing myself. That was a sad effort but..... I am determined to learn and do better next time. I really enjoy raising my own food, and doing the processing myself kind of feels right to me. With all that said, i dont know anyone the processes poultry for the public, best of luck.

I have 7 cockerels that need to go to the freezer. My pullets are so done with them, they stay in the coop away from them. And one of them is starting to get aggressive with me.
I don't have the set up or the desire to kill them myself, btdt a few years ago. I know foothills pilot plant does chickens but they're a good 2 hours away.
