Morning everyone. Super Super bitter cold. Kids dont seem to be phased, just happy to see me with the pail O food! Didn't really get anymore snow, just got Colder.
Do yall play music for your hens ever? An older "Monk" mentioned this to me!
Stay warm!
Peace

I don't play music for them unless you count the kids screaming, dogs barking and cats meowing for more food.
It is freezing around here too. UGH! The stove is working overtime to keep the house warm.
Have to go out shopping for some clothes in a bit. Got to get a job, already have an interview with USPS as a carrier, so I can keep up with the demand of me wanting more. lol
Hope ya'll are warm with all your snow!

I wish I could keep them... but hubby wants to get some Marans now, and we already have 2 coops... he says I have to downsize and move everyone around for more birds. Even though THIS time HE is the one who wants more birds. And I'll NEVER get rid of the silkies.

Good morning everyone. Yikes it's so cold and the wind brutal! Even my goose and ducks are hunkered down this morning. We had 16 for a low and 6 " of snow. Some of the chickens came out early but I bet their all in now, I turned on the heat lamp when I went out first thing. I usually wait till it's in the low teens before I turn it on. Even though the ducks can go into their house they usually just lay around under the oil barrel or where ever they can get out of the wind. It's going to be a very cold couple of days so keep those piggies warm, Thank goodness we have a wood stove, And hopefully we won't loose power. Blessing
Trish ........Wonder where BC is this morning hope all is well

Funny, I am actually hatching out gold cuckoo and regular cuckoo marans right now. Have one pipped this morning and 10 more to go!!

I am only looking for a couple of girls out of the group. O.k.,don't laugh, but I just want their eggs to be able to enter into our fair.

Our fair is in August, so hopefully by then we will be getting some eggs?? We entered that fair this year for the first time with some orpington eggs and lots of goods I had canned. Did really well and just enjoyed it, felt good to get praise for all my hard work.

You know the old saying: "A watched pot never boils", well I'm there

I keep going back to the bator every couple of minutes checking for more pips. I also have a few bantam orpingtons in there, two so far have pipped, one at the wrong end I might add. Darn chickens... thankfully mine have always still made it even coming out the wrong end.

I should have pictures to share tomorrow if all goes well.

I would not do well with eggs in the bator, It's hard enough when their under the hen. Good for you that you did well at the fair, I wish they had something like that here in Yancey Co.
