He was hatched by Joy, but I did get him from Julie. He's a Winston baby. Baby moose, that is. I'm getting chicks or eggs from Joy this spring - I am leaning toward chicks. My 2 breeds are Orps and d'Anvers. Talk about going to size extremes.

After seeing your boy at the show and that one in the picture I would probably take him right with them, but hit me on the head please, I have no way of keeping them separate from the other 2 roos and don't want any blood baths. Plus I am getting a silkie roo too.. but they'll have their own coop away from the others.. My dh says he'll not build another coop, and I can't afford to break in another dh at my age, to stressful on the heart..

so lets hope they will all be girls..

Very nice! I would love to have a blue from Joy to show, preferably a nice laced pullet would be awesome to see at the shows. I hear ya on size extreme, I have serama's and then go all the way to these big tubs.

I have three of my boys first vital eggs going into lockdown tomorrow.

One of the parent hens is the pullet that was at the show, the other has much more english fluff, she stayed home as he has done a number on her feathers.

Morganton show sounds fun and looks like a good oppertunity to buy some nice chickens raised by people that care, hopefully I,ll make the 2hr trek from burlington to there for the march show. Does anybody know of any gatherings more towards the middle of the state?

Hi,
welcome-byc.gif

There are two shows coming in your area, March 26th in Winston and April 9th in Greensboro. We'd still be happy to have ya at the Morganton show too!

Matt is a really good source for the NC shows, he is really knowledgeable about them and can answer allot of questions. If he can't help, I'm sure he can lead you in the right direction.

Upcoming NC Spring Shows:

March 5th - Unifour Show: Morganton, NC - Normally in Salisbury, but had to move due to budget issues and the overwhelming price of the Rowan County fairgrounds - Large Show.

March 26th - Forsyth Fowl Fanciers: Winston-Salem, NC - at the Dixie Classic fairgrounds - Large Show.

April 9th - Carolina Feather Fanciers: Greensboro, NC - at the Guilford Extension Service Arena - 3309 Burlington Road - Small show.

Most show folks are subscribed to the Poultry Press - http://www.poultrypress.com/ - which will have small advertisements for almost every show in the US and Canada.

I try to make sure to get the show thread going under the shows section on here 6 weeks before a show. That reminds me, I need to get the winston-s show thread going. The Unifour is already in there.

Matt
