And so it begins.......

....I Received a call at 7:30 am and headed down the mountain...All but one seem to be healthy...One was in the bottom of the box still barely hanging on...I tried to give some water with vitamins, but she was unable to swallow and kept pushing it back up...She took her last breath at 10 while i was holding her...I'm not a real sensitive person, but that was sad...I buried her in the back yard and said a lil prayer...She was one of my silver leghorns...On a positive note, see photos below...

Oh hooray! Little chicks are starting to arrive to their new homes!!!!

Another tell tail sign of what I have to look forward to on Friday.

We had a really bad lightning storm, I had gotten up early ( 6:30 ) Went out to the window and they where still there then I walked back by maybe 2 minutes later and they where gone. They where blown to the other side of the house, I had 3 stuck in one nesting box, 1 with her neck stuck between the the two panels and one who was thrown into the woods. Not to mention my 3 chicks that where scattered around the yard. By the time we found everyone me and my mom where soaked but everyone lived

How scary that had to have been to the chickens, but thank goodness they survived it.
