Secretquail I incubate in a Brinsea and hatch in a fishtank... I have a pan under the basket & add water to bottom of the tank if needed.

So, I had my first Pasty butt experience today...Was cleaning the ones that had it and found one that was pretty bad...so after some serious work I unfortunatley discovered that it had a blockage and when that came unblocked it was bad...I hope it will be ok now that I unblocked it...

Any suggestions? I can't get them totally clean unless I can soak them or soemthing, but that seems like a bad idea...

other than that everything seems to be going well...Just a little worried about the pasty...

Those that hatch on here should be able to help you with the best way to deal with that problem, I let my hens hatch and as far as i know have never had pasty butt. sorry you lost another, and hope the rest continue to thrive.

Not a great first pic, but it's all I had time to take... Look what I got this evening!!

Wow HT they are so pretty, are you now going to show and breed Silkies too? and you must stay on the road the way you come home with so many chickens... all I want is a couple more...

These were hand picked for showing at a later date so crossing my fingers that they make the grade. Going to let my daughter learn with these and yes hope that she will show one or more of them when they are old enough.

I am staying on track with my orps for the most part.

We are getting ready to do a bunch of rearranging and clearing un-neededs out to make room for breeders and current project birds. It is definitely going to be a busy spring but I feel some good growing pains coming.
