vfem - love, love, love the prius! i also have a hybrid (mercury mariner) but it's not as cool as the prius. love it! and your chicks are gorgeous!!!

ht - good luck to your cochins! i'm not so sure about my eggs. lots of them have been clear, but i've so far just candled one here and there. i plan to candle them all tonight as i am pretty sure i saw a blood ring as the battery on my candling flashlight went dead. it seems lots of folks here on byc haven't had the best luck w/ the seller of my eggs.

i may cry if i don't have a single cochin hatch!!!

nh - how's the babe? hope she's feeling better! and if you're up for the drive you can certainly borrow our ladder!

matt - did you feed your worms. i weirdly have lots of experience with them and they love paper thin sliced apples and it will help them live longer and be more nutricious for your birds! i doubt i'm telling you anything you don't already know but just in case! i'll have to check out that site if any of these eggs hatch!

They feed on the bedding which is laying crumbles. I do use apples for their moisture source. I used to use Potatoes, but found apples work alot better. I got mediums so that I will have time to give lots of treats to the chickens before they pupate. The last worms I ordered were in 2006 and have been raising them since. I had to make this order because I over harvested the bins this winter and ended up with almost none left to get to the beetle stage and lay eggs.

I gave out 400-500 mealworms today. Everyone(115 birds) got at least a couple each. Some of the more piggish got way more then their share.
