The 2 that I sold..had black bodies & dark brown heads.

I still have the one pictured above. I amm letting them all grow out before I do anything else....

Okay everyone. I made my FIRST Tractor Supply visit and

I managed to make it out of the store without ANY chicks!!

There was some VERY tempting ones. A few had very fluffy legs and a couple had a "silkie" look...they were poofy on the top.

tells you how much I know about chicks. They were so adorable and it was VERY hard to resist!! I am thankful the coop isn't done yet, because I might have been tempted to pick up a few!! It's a good thing I don't have a separate area...YET!! There was also a little rabbit and duck that were calling me, begging me to take them home. The look in their eyes....

I had to run while I could!! Today was the ONE TIME I was happy the DD was a little cranky because she was tired...it made me move faster and dawdle less...

Do to some unforseen circumstances, the delivery of our chicks will be delayed one day...which works out WONDERFULLY because it gives us a chance to finish the exterior of the coop and get it ready for them!! DH thinks he will have window & doors up tonight/tomorrow night and that leaves just the run & all the hardware cloth to be installed! My job is painting tonight and tomorrow. Then...we're hoping to do the inside

!!

Beth - Also wanted to tell you something I have been finding interesting. Allot of ads I have seen lately (other than BYC) for BLRW show them coming in both rose comb AND single comb.. So it's not anything that breeders aren't aware of (if they know their breed that is) and should tell potential buyers so they don't freak out when their chicks are born.

Just thought you all would like to know what my DH did.

We are out working on the barn & I found 2 small white eggs with red specks on them. I show him and tell him that I think they fell from the nest on our security light. His response, "so honey, how do you feel about incubating some bird eggs. Wanna give it a try?"

talk about enabling. If only we had the set up... <sigh> back to work.

Is it bad that I am wearing long sleeves just so I can itch my poison ivy??
