everyone! Hope you're all doing well!

Vfem, I swear you need to send all this mess over to a different non-urgent care doctor and make sure you are getting good care! It sounds like crazy stuff! I REALLY hope you get feeling better soon!

Went out of town again for my soon-to-be sister-in-law's bridal shower! Yay! And now I have 2 cousins in town staying with me for awhile so I've been busy busy.

The chickens are doing great. A couple have moved on up to the high roost in the coop so I feel like they're really growing up now! I can't wait for them to stary laying! But NH, my girls are a few weeks younger than yours so I'm not going to even get my hopes up til you're getting lots of yummy eggs! I'm sure it will be any second now! And I do need to get rid of a couple of boys. Greeneacre, I'll have to pm you to see if you are still interested in my other BLRW boy (as soon as I doubted him his little tail feathers started sticking straight up and he has become very roostery all at once!) and I am pretty darn sure both of the gorgeous Black Lav split Orps are boys.

And, two of the little Ameraucanas. AND, I think 1 of the Light Coronation split Sussex super-sweeties is a boy, too! YIKES! They're all so sweet though! And I hear an occassional crow but haven't been spending enough time out in this ick to even figure out who it is. Whoever it is is a shy crower and not doing it around me! Need to take pics soon.

Take care! And vfem, you especially!!!!!!!! Hopefully I'll check in again soon!

I am so sorry things are going so awful for you right now. Please just pamper yourself right now with lots of rest and allow your body to heal!! I know you well enough to say you have probably been go-go-go for months now and with everything attacking your body, you just need to rest and recoup!!
hugs.gif
I hope you feel better soon. If there is anything I can do to help, please just ask!!

I have given up waiting for eggs, it'll happen if/when it happens.

I don't know why they aren't laying. The funny thing is my Marans all sit on the plastic eggs in the two nesting boxes (two birds in each box) and they LOVE it in there. I am wondering if because they are in there, the older girls don't want to go in there?
hu.gif
I really don't know. According to Story's guide to chickens, typical healthy chickens begin laying at 24-26 weeks. They CAN lay as early as 18, but well...I'm LONG past that!! I'm just hanging in there...waiting. Lord knows I HATE waiting (that's probably why it's happening!!). I did receive 5 dozen eggs from our gal at church so at least I can get started baking some cakes!! I plan to freeze them and then worry about them the Thurs & Friday before they are needed. If you all see me after that, and I am bald...well you will know why!!

I've never made a wedding cake before because of the stress of making it perfect...we'll see. I think I may need to retire!!

Some good/sad news: my DD is a walking machine!! It's good because she's walking...it's sad because she's growing up!!
hit.gif
Next thing, it will be running around/chasing the chickens!!

Say, has anyone been to the Raleigh Farmer's Market? DH and I were thinking of going and taking our family that will be visiting from the UK there, but didn't know what it was like. Is it worth it? I tried to go once, but either the market wasn't open yet or I went on the wrong day because it was just a giant flea market... Can anyone enlighten me? My SIL and husband are big into fresh produce and I really don't want to keep running to the store, so I thought they could pick out what they wanted at the market...but
hu.gif
I didn't know if it would be up and running. The Clayton Farmer's Market...well it's rather sad!!

Have a wonderful day everyone. I'm off to sneak in a workout and then bake some cakes...ya'll are welcome to join me baking if you'd like!!

Sounds awful busy Ruthann, and way too hot to work out, we have a great farmers market, music the works but we hardly ever go.

one bright note about DD walking is when you get pregant again at least you won't have to tote a baby around on your hip the whole 9 months, haha. [just thought I'd sneak that in for a little encouragement]

Ruthann, I love the farmer's market! It's best to go on Sat. or Sun. and earlier in the day is better. It is open all week but the most vendors are there on the weekend. When you enter the first long covered section is where the main gig is - everyone has to be from NC. Inside the building is maybe where you went last time where there are some veggies from out of state and some flea market type stuff. But just to make sure, the farmer's market is off of Lake Wheeler Road because we do have a big flea market, too at the fairgrounds. You'll love it!!!

My chickens are only 16 weeks tomorrow so I've got a good bit of waiting to do still! Booooo.

Hey, did any of you make it to the Fuquay swap at Tractor Supply Saturday?? I really should have gone with some of these boys! How was it???

So we have only gotten 1 egg so far, 2 days ago...or at least that is all we can find, as our girls free range during the day. I do know that it is Miss Tillie Millie who is laying as she is the only Oprington who is Red in the face. And Glenda is back outside...she has decided that she is now a "Front Yard" Chicken...but I suspect she is just hiding from all the attention from Rhett and Jack. Long work day today...better go get ready. Hope everyone is doing well, and Vfem, I have been praying for a speedy recovery for you!!

Thank you Ruthann! I'm going to take a nap right now... I spent 2 hours this morning picking figs and since have been washing and cutting BUCKETS of them. I still have a 5 gallon bucket to go!!!

Ruthann, I do agree with Miss Lydia, You don't wanna be 9 month preggo with a wee one on the hip. As soon as she starts walking sounds like a PERFECT time to me.

Though I do think it would be cool if women grew a 3rd arm when we got pregnant, we sure do need it!

Thank you EVERYONE! I've been a total pain, and I know it! I'm stubborn, and I'm GO GO GO all the time and to be sick as often as I am really messes me up because I'm too strong willed to even listen to what my body wants. It wants sleep, and I have THINGS to do!!! So I'm going to go nap... though I have to say, I'm feeling at least 20% better at this point. I don't know if its the steriod treatment or I'm really recooping. Whichever it is, I'm going to lay down and recoop a bit more since I have to hit these figs hardcore again after dinner. What I don't manage to get done tonight will go back up to the farm to see if they can sell them, no reason these gorgeous fruits should go to waste.

Glad to hear you are doing at least a little bit better Vfem!!
hugs.gif
we're all praying for a speedy recovery, especially since we know you don't like to "take it easy."

I just ate my FIRST fig the other day. DH brought me a little bag home from work because a co-worker of his has them "coming out of his ears"....guess this weather has been good for the figs!!

Today has just been a horrid day for me. I heard the worst sound coming from the coop and I was rather excited...I though maybe, just MAYBE this was one of my girls' "I just laid an egg, everyone come take a look-see" call. No luck.
sad.png
Instead it was two of my girls protesting LOUDLY because one of the roos had decided to use them as a pillow!!
gig.gif
. I do forget that little miss is mobile now and well, it was bound to happen, but I was cleaning the kitchen and noticed it was awfully quiet...I turn the corner and catch a glimpse of her halfway up the stairs. I panic (internally) and try to cautiously walk over to the stairs without scarring her. She managed to climb down 4 steps before falling down the last two and I was just out of reach, so she banged her head on the step and the floor!!
hit.gif
Boy, did I feel like the worst mother ever!! She's such a toughie too, I picked her up told her it was okay, she hugged me and then signed "down please". I put her down and she was off to play as if nothing had happened. My heart has not recovered...nor my feelings of being a good mom. LOL...I guess that means I am doing something right then?!? I will keep in mind what you all say about having a walker for when I get pregnant with the next one (if/when that happens)...
gig.gif
I guess I should run that one by DH!!
lau.gif

I hope you all are having a better day than I am!!

We're in for another HOT weekend, so try to stay cool!!

Don't beat yourself up too much. I just laid Lily down for her nap, went into the living room to grab her cup, filled it with juice, and came back in to see that she'd crawled out of the playpen and onto the dresser.

She just looked at me and said "What're you doin?"
