And I think we may be neighbors...I'm in Faison, Sampson county. Where is Wayne are you?

Every time I try to count I lose track..because of all the chicks here and there and stuck in growing pens everywhere. Oh and buying hatching eggs just because they are different...Started with 9 last spring, last count it was over 125...i think...but that has been a while lol

I dare think about the numbers, just the joy they all bring me

It is not addicting. I just don't see why people say that. I started with 5. I only have 130 now. That does NOT make me an addict.

And I am not even saying how many we have.....

And some of US [and you know who you are] have IT worse than others.

Is this a cause for concern?? : This morning I went out to check for eggs and to make sure everyone is okay with food/water ... okay and to give them a cold treat. Anyway, one of my girls: Mopsy, is just slowly walking around the run and is completely NOT interested in any treats - even if I put it right under her nose. Now only 2 of my 3 have laid an egg...could she be this way because she is about to lay or because of the humidity?? She is a bit larger (fluffier) than her sister so I do know she is easting...and she was fine yesterday...also I do have someone hiding eggs

for the fake eggs are missing!! Is she about to go broody?? Do they do that before they lay any?? Sorry...I am just worried for my girl!! Please let me know what you all think!!

Well Ruth, she shouldn't be broody yet... if she was she'd be set on a nest and refusing to move while trying to remove one of your fingers!

If you notice her doing a 'squat' dance as she walks around, she's uncomfortable and getting close to laying her first egg. With this heat she may just be exhausted, and not very hungry at this point. I noticed some of my girls not eating well at all.... I have to put the sprinkler on the coops to keep everyone cool and happy about mid afternoon. Not to mention, laying has slowed down a lot for me since these heat spells.

Just make sure they have treats and water for if and when they need them. Maybe add a sprinkler or mister as it gets hotter. Today's supposed to be TERRIBLE with the humidity!

Well I just had a whole lot of fun going through the freezer thanks to the Ground Turkey Recall!

I bought a ton on clearance recently, as I only eat white meat (no pork or beef) so we got through a LOT of turkey and chicken here. So my good deals on turkey have turned into going right in the trash. 2 nights again, I made some and we ate it and I guess I should be grateful as we're fine... but not risking that again. I ended up with 4 packages of the ShadyBrook patties heaved into the trash. So you guys don't forget to check your freezers too!!!

This was one of the only news articles I could find with the code on the packages : EST P-963

NH - Congrats on your eggs!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so jealous!!! But now I think it might be time for me to fix up my nesting boxes a bit and get some fake eggs in there!!!! I can't be too far behind you!!!

Oh, I love all of my chickens but I'm sad to say that the time has come for me to find homes for my 2 gorgeous, regal, beautiful Black/Lav Split Orpington boys.

They are sooooooooo handsome! And boy do they know it!!! They are really good boys and I'll miss watching them. At least one of them has been crowing for awhile, but it sure has increased in volume here pretty quickly! My neighbors have not complained YET, but I'd like to rehome them before that happens! Here they are!

Boy, I really hope they are exactly what one of you has been looking for!!!!!!!!!! I am in Apex - Wake County - and happy to meet anyone who's not too terribly far! And I'd love more than anything to trade for a hen. I have a friend who has just gotten a coop and starting to look for chickens. I've promised her one or two, and would love to come up with a few more. She is getting them as a hobby for herself and especially her husband who has recently had a stroke.

Thanks! You guys are the best!

Vfem - so glad to hear you're on the mend!!!!! Let me know if your etsy shop is back up and running as my mother and I plan to put in an order for my brother's post-wedding biscuit brunch in September! Thanks!

And
