SCM, I am totally open again! Whoohooo for getting back on my feet.

Your birds are so cute, I hate being stuck with extra roos, especially sweet and pretty ones. It's so hard to let them go, they end up sorely missed.

I know what you mean about roos too, we put 6 in the freezer a couple weeks ago, I still have 2 from this years hatch and so far they are behaving themselves so i am not in a hurry to put them in deep freeze. I only heard the one crow once and the other is a little bantam who is old enough to crow but hasn't. It's hard to let them go. especially when so pretty like scms are.

Yesterday my turkey poult started having a runny nose, eyes, and face swelling. Today my pullet started having a runny nose, eyes, and is sluggish. She is also not eating or drinking much. I just noticed my hen has a runny nose also. Please, Please tell me this isn't Coryza

Could it be anything else? If it is Coryza all my chicks, and the whole flock has been exposed.

They are fowl smelling breath

Isn't it true that even if I treat them they will always carry it and can pass it on? I have started them on antibiotics, all I had on hand

So sorry to hear that allabout. From what I have read...yes they will always carry it. It will show back up when they are stress... like now with this heat.

Any upper respiratory infection can have a bad smell from the infection. The smell with Coryza is flat out putrid.

I would try treating with Tylan 50. If they respond within a couple days then it is bacterial and viral.

allabout - I am so sorry to hear this. I will keep your feather friends in my thoughts & prayers!

Welcome back....you were missed. I am sorry you have to rehome your beautiful boys. I would take them in a heart beat...but sadly I am already over-run with boys!! It's your turn to have some eggs...just know we've only had TWO eggs (then again only 3 of our girls are of age, so I can't complain).

VFem - I hear you about the recall. I am just glad I didn't buy any meat yet as I was waiting for it to get closer to when company arrives. DH eats anything, but I don't...lol just turkey and chicken for me. I accidentally had some beef once recently...it was not good on my system...

Egg report: nothing to report. I will update you all on Mopsy...she is still "sluggish" but when I brought out some peas for a treat, she did attempt to eat some. I'm not sure what's up with her but I am beginning to think she is just getting ready to lay and with the heat/humidity has been a bit sluggish. I am going to keep an eye on her. Everyone else seems fine and while the main roo does NOT accept the other boys or the new girls, everyone seems to be getting along well.

Jeremy will do a little side step every time one of the roos comes near him. He ignores the Marans unless there's food out and he will chase them away from it (by food I mean treats...just had to clarify).
On a fun note: we have a pretty Orb Weaver Spider (I can't believe I said THAT about a nasty SPIDER) that does this funky "dance" on it's web. It's quite comical...it has however kept the Black Widow away, so I am not complaining.

Oh and regarding the missing fake eggs...apparently DH was getting too confused with the fake ones, that he took them out of the barn without telling me.

So fortunately no snake or any predator got them...just my silly DH!!

Well, we are having out of the country guests come tomorrow so I am off for a bit of last minute shopping and more cleaning...I really HATE dusting...lol that's why I only do it when we have company coming.

!! Have a great day everyone!!
