to all the new folks.

Had a great visit with our family from the UK. It was too short, but they enjoyed spoiling their niece a LOT!! Off to get things in order before the next group of people come next week!!

Egg update: we are up to a total of 4 eggs so far!! That means one of my girls has laid twice (or two have laid twice)...I still don't know who's laying.

I guess they like to keep that a secret from me!!
Quick question: how do you know if/when your chicken feed has gone bad. I am just asking because I am planning on going to a wedding and leaving DH with the chicken duties until I get back and as such I wanted to order a little more feed just to make sure we don't run out. But I didn't know how to tell if it was moldy or bad. Any ideas?? Well today is the day to pick up feed from Reedy's and then home to bake some more cakes!! It's going to be a long day!!

Morning all

Ruthann... don't worry about the feed going bad, I am sure it will last a month or more. I am sure someone will chime in. It will go bad if it gets wet. You will see & smell the mold. Go and enjoy and don't worry.

yeah, i posted in the local forum, but couldnt get the buy/sell/trade section to work.. people in ashe claim to want them, but getting place to have all temp even (as well as planning for the ones that like here might decide a pet is suddenly to much effort to take care of), though NC people in general seem more pet inclined, but then found some good ones here also. was the one: pet finder.com? i think i tried their and only gpt people looking for the ones i have, way out of state, and mstly new york, and i cant get there, and uneasy about shipping (as post office here plays kick box with things, i guess). again thanks for all suggestions and trying to help. didnt know only took one to have it gangt off of there, and going to try again anyway.

Morning everyone! Hope all are having a great start to the day.

yup, go on my local forum, and also hopefully got it up on the everything else for sale thread, but couldnt find the adoption thread. found that i might have put up to many animals at once in same ad, so might be considered a breeder/seller, so need to be maybe in different place on craigs, but wont let me post anything at all yesterday (going to try again today). maybe i should try individual catagories on here for the types of animals..

I'm so thankful for my babies! Last night a darn coon got the inclination to try and get into Will and Kate's hutch. He achived his goal.Thankfully my sister heard the cries and shoed him away. Think Will was a bit shocked, but ok. And of corse he was back in five. Tonight his meal plan will deviate severely to lead. Lord bless his soul now, as he will be moving on to be by your side! Hope everyone else survived the night. Seems it's the time of year when food is in short supply in the woods and chicken really taste better anyway. Just not mine! Call Tyson!

i used to leave a low watt light on outside for my livestock, so they could defend themselves.. worked well for them, and that the rough collie could go tearing out after anything threatening them, and the light helped him know right where and what they were (thank fully he knows to keep skunks facing him when he can see them).
