Of course the Japanese Bantams had to get all up in the camera shot too! :p

Little Hope is very defensive of her adopted brooder mates. When I pit the camera in to take pics she charges full steam at it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm Afeared this be roo behavior...

Can hens, especially this young behave like this?

18 went into lockdown . Pray for these babies. Had a 21 hour power failure during hurricane Irene. Eggs were shuffled from incubator to big fat broody cochin....back to incuabtor....back to big fat broody cochin AND back to incubator... Now in the hatcher. What a rough start.

Electric had to be turned off for several hours for repairs ...thus the 2 trips to the broody hen. Broody cannot be moved she will just flat out leave the eggs if I try to move her. She has trampled eggs in the past when I tried to lock her in a broody pen.

And there was no way those eggs were staying out in the barn. We have a rogue snake that we can't catch.
