You all are SO sweet!! Here I only thought my cakes were "okay"!!

I cannot take credit (forgot to mention this earlier) for the writing, as I do NOT have a steady enough hand to handle the writing. My DH does that for me and anything else I need a super steady hand for...he likes doing very detailed intricate work!!

Have I mentioned how blessed I am with him?? While I was away at this conference on Saturday, I came home to a clean house, a clean and happy DD and happy pets...what more could a girl ask for?? Okay, well I could ask for a new dishwasher, but he washed everything by hand...so again, I have a great man!!

As for retiring...it was just TOO MUCH work for DD and Baby #2 to handle. I've been so stressed out and focused on these cakes, she didn't stick to her nap schedule (which resulted in ONE CRANKY baby) and I forgot to eat (which resulted in ONE ANGRY OB...although I wasn't complaining about the 5# weight drop!

). OOPS.

I think many many years from now when we are done having children and they are old enough to work quietly by themselves alone for hours at a time I may pick it back up. So give me say....20 years

Although if they take after me, they will NEVER be able to sit and work quietly!!

I think we will stick to just slowly increasing our little flock size and perhaps add a few ducks (those eggs are AWESOME in baking!!!!) a peacock or two (because they're pretty

) and an EMU (to protect everyone, right EM??)...not to mention the sheep we plan to get...I think all will be well after that!!

Again, thank you so much for your kind comments about the cake. You all are so sweet. I could just hug each and every one of you!!

Second egg in the LF pen was successfully laid today!

she laid it in the same nest DD put the fake egg in. I'm not sure it was even the same hen as today's egg was not as dark in color as yesterday's and a much rounder shape. It maybe my formerly broody mamas. Since coming out of brood she has had a 180 degree personality change. She is calmer, more relaxed around us, and has moved up a bit in the pecking order.

Aspen, I was just thinking the same thing while posting a reply on the DUccle thread!

great minds and all that! Chicks are good. Little buggers learned how to fly out of their brooder last night so on went the top which I hate because it makes it harder to place the heat lamp and get into the brooder to do anything. Hopefully when we get paid again at the end of the month DH will have an idea of what were going to do coop wise. He is the design and build chief. I take orders and pick up tools well!

How old is Opie? He sure is cute!

Hi all!!!!

Hope everyone is well and I love reading the sagas!!

So, I go let out he birds this morning, count the outside chicks, all 3 look good and moving around. DW gets home from OH and all looks well. I get home @ 6.45pm, and checking in on the silkies I find a cold almost unresponsive silkie chick - the latest to be born outside. I scoop it up, it is cold, so i cuddle him to me, taking him indoors. I give him to Allison who wraps it in a heating blanket and we give it a few drops of warm water which it takes. So, we've placed it in the brooder box with the others and the outlook is good, little one has warmed up and is moving around with the others in the box. Only time will tell but if it makes it - I hope so then we will name it lucky!!
