I saw it this morning too! Awesome and missed sight for sore eyes. Then it thunder stormed tonight. Bummer. I'd help you if I could. For leg mites I've treated with Vaseline though Ive heard that you can use spray Pam too?? Never tried it, but the Vaseline worked. Not sure if those were the type of mites you meant though...

I think its scaley leg mites! What's worrying me is the cost of Tylan!
Thanks now I just gotta grow two more arms so I can hold them down and smear it on their legs!

As far as I know Tylan is the drug of choice for CRD. but I will give you a suggestion for holding them, wrap them in a towel and cover there heads, they should lay pretty calm for you then. for worms start with Wazine it's pretty inexpensive, then if you can afford it use valbazen ot Epernix pour-on, the epernix will also treat external parasites too. I wish you all the best in treating them and hope it helps, poor things.

I steal my energy from all of BHep's chicks....when she's not looking, I suction it all from them!!
gig.gif
I honestly don't have much energy especially with the stupid morning sickness that lasts all day and was suppose to be GONE by the end of the 1st trimester!!
he.gif
I just know that I am the type of person that if I allow myself ANY slack, I'd be one lazy good for nothing BUM!! (some days I really am!!) So I just push myself. That and I really DO love making things for other people (even if it is my DD who is clueless when it comes to clothes/toys/blankets)
love.gif
. Besides most of my quilting is done during nap times and so far DD is still at that age where she naps quite a bit (2 hours + twice a day) so I am able to do all the things I wouldn't do while she was up and running around (ie: rotary cut fabric pieces). I also let her play with scraps which makes her feel as if she is helping AND keeps her entertained while I sew. Next year with 2 I can't say I will be as productive or have ANY energy!!

Egg count still stands at 4-5/day....I was really hoping to start getting 7/day or even 14??
lau.gif
Is that asking TOO much?? HT/BHep let me know when you want to thin out some of your older chicks because I might just NEED to add some more girls to our mix...it's depressing that I still have to go to the store to buy eggs!!
sad.png
OOhh....BHep, maybe we can talk my DH into getting ducks!! hmmm....now there's an idea!!
big_smile.png

SJM - hold off on freezer camp for now. Just when you least expect it...your girls will start laying better. It took my girls about a month to really get it all "worked out" and they've consistently laid an egg a day...now the Marans who were younger are starting to lay and with the exception of my "mutt" who is part EE they lay about every other day (the mutt lays almost daily) but it is starting to pick up (either that or I am getting bad about collecting the eggs....we'll pretend it's getting better!!

Hoping you walk in and find a nest of eggs!!

Have a great day everyone!!

Good advise ML on the wormer.

Are you sure they are at a point that they need Tylan? Maybe you could start with duramycin and see if that helps as it is rather inexpensive before going as far as spending the $$ on Tylan?? Just a thought. They could just need a clean environment and some good groceries and they will perk right up.

Ruthann... if you could talk your DH into 3 LAYING ducks, I'd pack them up and come visit. I may come visit without... I got a old sewing machine from a family friend, I do not know how to use it
idunno.gif
Clueless ! I haven't touched a sewing machine since middle school, many, many, MANY years ago.

I would LOVE to make myself a quilt someday.

I think I will slack today, lay around and be lazy too. I have been running everyday
barnie.gif

:Welcome to the new folks!!

I am wondering if it is my lack of a 5 star resort nesting center..

Little extra money this week so I think I am gonna try the hooded litter box idea but currently they are using empty dresser drawers with some straw in them

I just bought these stack-able storage bins with lids at Ollies for $4.99 each. I just put them out yesterday & today. Lots of curious looks, I will see how they like them.
big_smile.png

Even a cardboard box works temporally. Free almost anywhere. Close it up....cut out a couple of holes & stuff some shavings or hay in it. Best part...you don't have to clean them out, just trash them & replace. For some reason... my GLPs will only lay in a box.
hu.gif
They are taking a break from laying right now, so I threw out their old box and gave them a new storage bin. Not sure if they will use it. Time will tell.

I have some smaller dog crates that i took the doors off of and put them out for the girls, they did not like them, how can they be so picky about a nest box? the cat litter boxes with tops have been the best and they sell something just like in Strombergs catalog for alot more than 7-10 dollars. with my LF orps and brahmas though I have to make sure they are surrounded by alot of shavings or screwed down because they are so heavy they will turn them up on end.

Ruth, I'm sure BHEP has no problem getting those ducks to you. Last I heard she's going to have to get a second fridge to hold all those duck eggs! LOL

Which reminds me, my pekin has been laying like a champ, and I've been stealing them from her little 'hidden' nest for over a month. Today she's been sitting on that nest and WON'T come off of it. Ut Oh!?
lol.png

I have two that like the front open so they can see out and one that prefers the front of her nesting box draped with a towel so its nice and dark. My bantams lay all over in the coop depending on their mood, but at least they are in the coop!!

I have two new layers as of last night when I collected eggs in the torrential down pour. People, please claim your rain now, I don't breath underwater soo well!

Can't wait to crack open the egg on the left!! Double yolker??
