North Carolina

Does anyone knows of any other sale or swap place before November 26 Winston Salem ? I have few pairs and few roosters in Belgium D'anver from BBB that I want to sale, and I don't want to wait another month for it. I only know of two local auction places, but they are usually full of sick chickens, and I don't want to take my healthy chickens over there.
Thank you.

Glad you had a great time, HT!! Your girl and your new sweeties are gorgeous!

I am so happy with my chickens! Look at this basket full of a dozen eggs!!!!

And Bhep, thanks for the tip - I have tried treats and she just won't budge off of that nest! I guess she knows what she's doing though, right!? She won't just sit there and dehydrate or starve with food and water right in front of her, right!?

I am SUPER excited now...are you sure those LARGE brown eggs you are telling me about aren't duck eggs?!? NOT that I would mind!!

I even have my mother telling my DH that we need ducks because the eggs are fabulous!!

Did someone really dye the hair on those Silkies?? One question...WHY??

I just don't get the whole silkie attraction...they're just big puff balls....they are cute, but I prefer my BIG fluffy girls. I am sorry your girl wasn't allowed to be judged because of some "peach fuzz". She is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! Glad you had fun!!

I went grocery shopping this morning and two TERRIBLE things happened. First - NEVER EVER EVER go shopping on the first Tuesday of the month...apparently that is Senior Citizen Discount Day and BOY some of them do NOT like to wait.

Good thing DD is so stinking cute!! Secondly -

I spent a fortune just getting fruits and vegetables with barely any meat!! I literally bought ONE pound of meat and that was IT!!

I DESPERATELY need my garden & orchard to work out next year and freeze/can my produce!! I intended to do some sewing but DD was being naughty (broke her light bulb in her night-light) so after cleaning up glass....I just went from room to room sweeping, mopping, and

dusting!! Guess now is as good as any time to do it since we have company coming from now until the end of the year!! I hope everyone else had a wonderful Tuesday!! It's still TOO cold for me!!

I've had hens sit a few days before they move off the nest to do their stuff and than back on. Just watch her. Marans eggs will lighten in color as the laying season goes on. Everyones got cuties! Sorry about your bird ht, pretty birds.

Annnnd the mister is what breed?

I have three roosters that free range. Another two fly out for day and put themselves up at night. These roosters all get along and have two acres to get away from each other when someone is grumpy. If your guy is a Shamoo(?) like I'm thinking, I'd have to have an escape proof enclosure for him and a few girls I'd likely give him.

I hope to be able to do some running around a couple of states in the next month. Down I-95 is my main travel plan.

Ivan is a Burmese Gamefowl. He really cannot be around other males. If you have a way to totally seperate males, that would be fine. Mine freerange as well and he was absolutely relentless in his pursuit of my roo, Dexter. He would not let him near food, water or the girls. He is great with me and I can carry him around and love on him. He is good with his girls I have him with. I adopted him as a baby and hoped it was a hen but...... There is hundreds of years of fighting bred into this breed and at first I thought he might be ok since my other roo is huge and was here first. Once Ivan turned about 7 mos. old (he is about 9 mos. now) he was determined to kill Dexter. I love him dearly and I want him to go to a good home that needs a roo around to protect their girls. He's great for that.....and hugs and kisses.

JL~ I had a BumbleBee Transformer with me too! Along with Handy Manny and a dinosaur!

I was going to go to the Lexington Farm and Garden sale, but DHs uncle died yesterday night, so we will be heading to SC for the funeral this weekend. I hate that I will miss the sale as I wanted to look and maybe get some more hens for out flock, but family comes first.
