Rebel, it looks like you were right! My husband finally found the hen terrified and perched in the top of a crepe myrtle..

Well, this is even worse knowing that I have to worry about the dog. Do you have any advice? Eventually we will have another section of the yard fenced and can better separate the flock from the dog..

Glad you found your hen Ally. My 12 lb Shih Tzu ATE 3-4 of my EE chicks a few years back. These chicks were approx. 1-2 month old, so not small. All that was left was feathers & legs.

I hope things work out for you!!
Although, you asked about home-made Christmas projects...which I am ALL about. What kind were you thinking of doing? I LOVE making big batches of cookies and fudge candies and such to give away as gifts to our neighbors (the farmers keep my daughter's pantry and stomach well stocked!!) as well as friends. Having a batch of goodies when company stops by unexpectedly is always helpful!! I also make decorations and small personal gifts. Another great idea is a gift in a jar - where you either place all the dry ingredients to something (say soup) and decorate the jar with a nice ribbon and recipe card; or you can do a pie in a jar where you literally create a personal size pie in a jar for them to cook at a later date!! I think home-made gifts are so much more meaningful than store bought ones...it means someone took the time to really think and put effort into it rather than just going to a store and grabbing something off the shelf (that's not to say people don't put a lot of thought and effort into what they buy from the store either). I also make home-made facial kits (made from sugar!! YUM) - you can also make scented bath salts (Epsom salt, sugar and a little essential oil!!) Hope that gives you a few ideas!!

Happy creating!
